femmealunettes: (*facepalm*)
Oh LiveJournal, why so fail? I'm backing my journals up... this journal alone is going to take almost two full hours to back up on Semagic, do you think I have posted enough in the past ten years?

I don't want to have to move to Dreamwidth. I already have all my journals there set up, I just never use them, and I don't want to have to-- even though my LJ participation rate has plummeted since the beginning of the semester (I've been busy, okay, when I have the option of spending time with people IRL I take it), this is still where I live on the internet and I don't want to give it up because the Russians are dickwads.

Anyways, I did get a few good years out of my permanent account... definitely worth the $100 in high school for all the use I got out of the maximum icon spaces and the unlimited thread tracking and never seeing ads.

Anyways. Next semester McKenna is running a game of Changeling: The Lost, and I've never properly played a World of Darkness game before, but I came up with my character in the past day or so and I really like her. I never get to play a vamp, I'm going to live it up when I finally can do so. This is the first female character I'll play in a well-run game (I don't count the Serenity game of 2010 because they did nothing to incorporate me in the plotline, and I don't count the games from high school because those were not well-run), so I'm looking forward to it.

Also Shane is going to run a game of Delirium, which I don't know anything about except it uses a deck of cards instead of dice to determine how things happen, but it's going to be set at Wells, so that will be interesting. McKenna's game is also set at Wells, but it involves faeries, so it's different.

And I'm still going to be playing Spirit of the Century, and if Phillip runs Little Fears again I might be down for a second campaign. So I will potentially be playing four RPGs next semester, which I can totally pull off because I managed two and writing a thesis and I got As in all my classes this semester, so clearly I am made of awesome.

Tabletop roleplaying is fun. :D

OH! That reminds me of a thing I wanted to ask you about. How have you done online RP in the past? My pathfinder group is a little far flung right now and we agreed to take the stress out by postponing sessions until January. I've been trying to get them into some non-story-critical character building stuff on our FB group in the meantime, since it's not time-critical. I'm not 100% on how to get the ball rolling, though, esp. since I'm not the GM.

Mostly Kristin ran the games I was involved in, and the games were played out on LJ or a similar journaling site where we would just play in comment threads, or in AIM and post the logs to the community later. As far as getting people started, I don't know what the situation is but usually having something happen like a party or a gathering will get people interacting. Or start a crisis, but that's not so good for non-story-critical stuff.

Yeah, I just bought a round of drinks for my party at the public house most of us sleep at. Hopefully that'll start a "gee, we've been killing nasties for two weeks straights and I don't feel like I really /know/ any of you." conversation.
Just feels awkward to have to be all "then YOU guys continue the conversation in the third person. Guys?"

I hope it works without too much poking-with-sticks on your end.

Is there some new LJ problem?

They fucked up the comment system and basically broke all the kink memes, plus changed how you select userpics for comments to something unnecessarily complicated. I just want my dropdown menu back.

Ah, I thought it was another DoS attack or something.

How are you? Long time no talk :)

Apparently there was another DDoS attack last week or a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't notice.

I'm doing okay! I got all As this semester but I got screwed out of a 4.0 by missing one yoga class. Which is just typical of my life, really. I am just biding my time at home until I can go stay with Brian and April for January. How are you doing?

That's just bullshit. It's a yoga class! It's supposed to be relaxing, not stress you out.

They live in the Albany area, right? Are you there for the whole month? Were they PSU kids? I don't think I know them.

Yeah, they just moved into Albany proper from Schenectady. I'll be there at least two weeks... I think I want to come home before I go back to Wells, which happens on the 22nd, so I'll probably be in Albany until the 16th or so. But no, they weren't PSU kids, they went to New Paltz. I know Brian from middle school and I didn't meet April until they had been together for a while already.
