For my midterm tomorrow I have to bring in a one-page proposal for my final paper. So far I have half a page and no idea of what else to say or who else I can bring into this. Any suggestions?

I plan on doing a paper exploring modern examples of tricksters and war gods as portrayed in different television series. I will compare my examples with traditional tricksters and war gods and explain how each character fulfills the type in the context of his mythology, that is, the canon of each show.

For tricksters, I will use the examples of Nathan Ford from Leverage, Shawn Spencer from Psych, Neal Caffrey from White Collar, and the Trickster from Supernatural. I will compare them to Coyote (Native American), Loki (Norse), and Anansi (West African).

For war gods, I will use the examples of Eliot Spencer from Leverage, John Casey from Chuck, and Dean Winchester from Supernatural, with the additional example of the personification of War, the apocalyptic horseman, also from Supernatural. I will compare them to Ares (Greek), Thor (Norse), and Indra (Hindu).

I'll show YOU an apical meristem, all right

Okay. I'm about to kill myself from head-explodey reading about roots and shoots, so I am taking a break to ask for help from you, my wonderful friends list. This is a fun kind of help. You get music out of it and all you have to do is click in this poll, you don't even have to type anything to help me!

This is a zip file containing 11 songs.

These are the songs: tracklisting )

Please listen to them in order (they're all numbered) and answer this question:

Thank you for your help, you beautiful people. If I don't wake up, tell my mother the plants did me in.

omg, the music mistress asking for help? shock! horror!

But no, seriously, does anyone have "Ambien" by Amanda Palmer? I need it for a fanmix and searching google... well, gives me a lot of spam pages basically. :( Can anyone help me please?

While I'm going on very off-chances, does anyone have "Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori" by Regina Spektor? I can only find it on youtube, and I can rip it, but if it's out there in better quality, that would be super.

Out of curiosity...

Please comment here with your favorite variations of "I'd hit it."

The most common I've heard: "I'd hit it like the fist of an angry god."

One I used earlier today: "I'd hit that like a whack-a-mole, frantically and often."

Feel free to include pictures of those you would direct your "I'd hit it" comments toward!

Zachary Quinto: I'd hit that like a furious bisexual. xD

QUICK HELP PLZ

My father is going out at 6:15 tomorrow morning to do his annual Christmas Eve day-long stand at Wal-mart, and he asked me to fill his mp3 player with carols. More toward the "yay for baby Jesus" end than the "snow, sleigh rides, chestnuts and giggles and reindeer farting rainbows" ones.

Of course, I fucking hate Christmas music, so I only have like six appropriate songs.

Hook me up with some Christ-y Christmas chuunz, people. Jesus would want you to do it, and you'll be helping people in need because people throw money at my dad to get him to stop singing.

...no, really, he's gone 60% deaf in one ear and 40% in the other, people really do give him money to stop if they have to wait outside.

ANYWAY HALP!

I think I have found the solution to my scratching: I am going to clip my nails as short as I can, and then paint them. Usually I keep at least one long, for ease of prying things open, but with all the scratches I've been inflicting on myself I think it's time for drastic measures. Also, this will be a preemptive strike against biting them, which I've started doing again.

Tomorrow I am doing Julia's hair in an Amy Winehouse beehive. Internet video tutorials FTW. It's really not that complicated, except for the part where you have to section the hair into squares. I am rly not good at that. I can barely make an even part; that's why I have one straight part down the center and it doesn't look good because it's been there forever. -_-

Speaking of one straight part, I am tossing around some ideas for my haircut.
Katy Perry. I like her bangs. Downside: I would have to straighten my hair, like, every single day.

Elle Bishop. Shorter, sideswept bangs, sort of feathery at the front sides. Looks good straight or wavy. My face shape isn't very Kristen Bell, though.

Mohinder Suresh. no srsly. That's about as easy as hair will get: toss my head around, run some mousse through with my fingers, walk out. It is a little bit short, but I might be able to pull it off.

Vivian Charles. Totally, totally cute, face-framing, adorable. Downside: Again, daily straightening. (god I hate having fluffy hair.)
