you knew this was coming, right?

The meme that is as much a holiday tradition as hanging stockings now: the wishlist.

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love an icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

This is my address! Friends-locked, obvs.

1. Feedback on any of my fic. It makes me happy and it's pretty easy to do. I know I've not exactly been pumping out the new material, but even hearing "I come back to this sometimes and it still makes me :D like the first time" is beyond glee-making.

2. If you feel like blowing money on me for some insane reason, anything off my one of wishlists: Etsy, Lush, ThinkGeek, Amazon. (Really, don't spend money on me. unless you want to. >.> )

3. Music! Make me a mix of things you think I'll like, things you think I should hear, thrings that make you think of me or my favorite characters or whatever, just-- music. Fanmixes get you bonus points. Toss it up on Mediafire and pass me a link and I will be pleased as pie.

4. Call up your local Salvation Army and donate a few hours of your time to the kettle campaign. Standing there ringing a bell might not sound like a barrel of laughs, but it'll at least give you an interesting perspective on people and the money you raise will go right into helping someone in your community. If you have a personal loathing of the SA (and really, I'm not about to blame you) then go volunteer your time somewhere else, just go do something for a cause. Read to kids or play with pound puppies or schlep boxes for a food pantry. Then bitch to me about how much it sucked tell me how much fun you had. :P

5. Anything handmade. A little doodle, if you're artsy, a friendship bracelet or bookmark if you're craftsy, even just a handwritten note saying hi if you're not into making things. Holiday cards work, too, I love getting them. A postcard would do. Something to prove to my parents that you're not just imaginary friends inside the computer. xD Or, you know, in the computer things work too if you're an icon-maker/wallpaperer/drabbler/other digital media-crafter!

6. Pleasantly scented things! BPAL imps you don't like. Random incense you don't remember the origins of. Teeny hand lotions, perfume samples, tea candles, sachets, bits of tissue paper spritzed with your favorite body spray, if it smells nice and you feel like passing it along I will stick it under my nose and inhale deeply. :D

7. Paperbacks. If you're done-for-good with a book and you even halfway think I'll like it, send it on. I'd love to trade books with any of you. And this I know from paperbackswap: you can wrap the average paperback in two pieces of printer paper and it costs about $2 to mail it first class. I mostly read fantasy and sci-fi, but I will try anything you want to send me!

8. Recipes. If you give me a recipe, I will make it and take pictures to prove it. I like trying new things, I just haven't been doing much in the way of baking lately. Give me an excuse to go kitchen-crazy! I especially like sweets, and I am very open to vegetarian/vegan recipes so I can feed my little sister, since she can't eat most of the things I make by way of entrees. (My single restriction: if you send me a recipe that includes artificial sweetener, I will make frowny faces at you and probably use real sugar when I make it. Splenda is the devil's work.)

9. Give me your email address and let me send you an invite to Lockerz.com. I'm saving up points for an iPod Touch and I'm halfway there. If I can get 20 people to sign up through me, I could probably score that sucker by the next time they have a redeeming period. :D? You can totally ignore it once you sign up, if you just want to do it to humor me.

10. Link me to your wishlists so I can do something for you! Most of the fun I get out of this season is in doing things for other people. I can't guarantee you high art or anything really astounding, but I can promise to put a lot of thought into whatever you'll get from me. ♥

11. Sleep. If you have any of that extra just laying around, send some my way, would you? Cause I think I ran out.
