I think it might help your argument to discuss different ideas of the age of consent/age of adulthood in different cultures. For instance, in a culture that practices FGM, is a 13-year-old old enough to get married? To move out of her parents' house? To fight in a war?

I think it's very well-thought-out overall, though, and my feelings are the same as yours. And thank god for Xanax; it's a lifesaver.
