Today has been full of good things.

I went to see Lisa, which is always a good thing.

I got to vote, hooray!

I got to play with my cat. :3

I got to talk to my parents, which I always enjoy doing.

I got to take a long nap in a comfortable bed.

I got another 1000 words written on my Nano. I finished up with Sean and Mikhail for now, and moved on to DRAGONS. Schuyler is a dragon now. I haven't written the hatching scene yet, that's the next thing I have to do, which I'm going to start as soon as I finish this LJ entry.

I had SAGA and Sex Collective, which are always fun.

Then Loey gave me a massage. I feel great.

AND THE BEST NEWS: My application for a medical single was approved! I have to move all the way out to Dodge, which is the sketchiest dorm building on campus, but I am totally willing to put up with some sketchiness if it means I don't have to deal with another person jacking up my sleep cycle for the rest of the year. Plus some cool people live in Dodge. I can invite Barry over for tea! :D So tomorrow after French I have to go talk to Malindra about what rooms are available there, and I think I'm going to try to see who the suitemates are for each option, because rooms in Dodge are arranged by suite, not just by floor. I would prefer to have people who don't party too much, even though Dodge has the reputation of being the party dorm.

So by the end of the week I could be in a room of my own. I'm looking forward to it.

One thing I am definitively NOT doing is looking at election results. I don't need to stress myself out about results that are still coming in. I'll check them in the morning.

Okay so I have never actually been to a renaissance faire before today, so I had no idea what to expect. IT WAS SO COOL. Julia and Rachael decided not to come, so it was just me and my parents all day. We saw a silent comic (HIlarious), a dunking (well, several dunkings in the guise of a trial, lol. the evil sheriff's evil son: lickably cute), Midsummer Night's Dream with just the fairy and actors storylines (they did the lovers on a different stage later), falconry (omg, eagle owls are HUGE and COOL), and a silent act with two washerwomen at a well (my parents saw it before and it wasn't silent, they said this version was lame and it kind of was). Also, most of the roaming food vendors were a) very cute, b) very loudly making innuendos about their wares, or c) both.

In between all the acts, there was wandering. SO MANY SHOPS SO LITTLE TIME/MONEY. I could have maxed out a credit card there, good thing I don't have one. xD In the end, I left with one tiny lavender pouch to keep my purse smelling nice, a sweet blue hat with silver trim and feathers on one side, and a simple but gorgeous blue dress that fits me like a glove and makes my ass look FANTASTIC. :D I came about this close [--] to getting a tarot reading but I'm glad I didn't because I wouldn't have been able to get my hat and the hat is way better.

I probably shouldn't but I am taking a nap because, whoa, 8 hours mostly on my feet in the sun being all excited is tiring. xD

eeeeeee I totally want to do that again this time in my sweet renfaire garb so I can hit up that actor for ye olde facebook page url. You know, among other reasons. >.>

femmealunettes: (a container for my joy)
The amount of win today has been both extraordinary and epic.

To recap: Got a lot of stuff done, including one of the most difficult tasks on my list. I HAVE DEFEATED THE CLOTHING MONSTER. There are no dishes in the sink. I can do all of the laundry within two hours. My room is (mostly) clean, the animals are (mostly) happy, and I am (entirely) content.

OMG, hibachi steak, I am so fat and happy. The hibachi chef's name was Jonas. xD He was chubby and funny and I think Korean. And my mom said something totally flirty to him, and he was all "oh hey? lol" and it was awesome. xD So I got fat on steak and shrimp and rice and miso soup, and then GINGER ICE CREAM om nom nom nom so good.

BUT BEFORE THAT: huge Barnes and Noble, yes! I wandered and stuff, and my dad bought me The Fall!!!! And the latest issue of Heroes Magazine. This conversation happened:

Dad: Heroes? Really?
Me: They have really good articles!
Dad: Yeah, that's what I used to say about Playboy.
Me: Yeah, well, we probably put them each to the same use.

He didn't hear me, neither did Julia, and I walked across the store with my jaw dropped, laughing and saying "I cannot believe I just said that to him." EPIC LULZ.

So now I am home, and sleepy-full, and I spent the car ride home listening to podfic and wondering a) how to keep my voice from being all electronic on the edges, b) how to keep my voice warm, and c) how to develop the incredible phone-sex voices some of these readers have. xD Seriously, if I didn't sound as dorky as I looked, I might give reading a higher-rated fic a shot...

Driving home in blowing snow is kind of creepy. The patterns the snow makes as it swirls over the road switch up so quickly: angel wings, unhappy faces, shoes and ships, whirlpools and tornadoes, desert dunes, cabbages and kings. About two inches fell in the five hours I wasn't home. It's supposed to keep snowing.

I can't believe it's only eleven. I want to go to sleep already... but I am halfway through with Friday and I am determined to finish that first. NOAH BENNET I CHOOSE YOU *throws poke bouncy ball*

it's like... comicsmas!

It is beautiful outside.

All the snow has melted, and the ground is pretending that it isn't soggy, doing a good job of it from a distance.

I watched two squirrels chasing each other around, doing tightrope acts on thin branches and the top of the fence, fluffy tails and soft white bellies, chitter and the rustle of dead leaves still carpeting under the trees.

For a while, I tracked a plane across the sky: no contrail, just a bright silver spark making its slow way across the brilliant bright blue. All the clouds are mare's tails and cottonballs.

My bed is amazing. I slept like babies wish they slept. I slept better than a cat.

Today is simply gorgeous, and I'm loving it. :D

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

Kristen Bell = adorable kitten!

So yesterday was AWESOME. Kristin went all-out with the Halloween shit, and zombied us up somethin' good.

don't click if you don't want to see a gaping hole in my scene-zombie cheek! )

So then we went to the Mathematicians concert, which was INCREDIBLE. We met up with Mandy ([livejournal.com profile] victoriansquid), who was perfectly dressed as the Swedish Chef, and I helped carry stuff in from the band's van because I remembered how absolutely cool and down-to-earth those guys were and they could use a hand, so... yes. (I'm a groupie or something.) But yes, the first band was Oh So Insidious, and they were pretty good... the lead singer danced like a William Beckett wannabe, and during their performance I coined a new word:

fauxmoerotic. It's the fake gay interplay that happens between band members on stage.

I think I'm clever. Anyway, then the Mathematicians were on, and I fucking rocked my geeky little heart out. No band can make me dance like they can, partially because I dance like a fucking spastic dork and it's embarrassing at anything but a geek rock concert, and partially because they ROCK. I think I almost fell over during Input/Output. xD

They have a new CD out, so I bought it and had them all sign it-- and Dewi Decimal remembered me getting a broken drumstick signed at the Halloween show two years ago. xD And Kristin and I pinned our robot buttons to Pete Pythagoras's sweatervest. They're all so funny and so NICE, I love them to death. xD

They're doing another show in Burlington on November 17th. I really, really want to go.

After the show, we hung out with Amber and picked up Julia and some McDonald's and went back to chill in Amber's room. We just sat around talking for literally like two and a half hours. It was awesome.

I just slept until like 2:30. And when I woke up, the cat walked out of my room. I was like "What the hell, Oreo. Were you watching me sleep? You're creepy." The cat is trying to steal my soul.

Anyway! Today, I think, is devoted to watching movies. But first I'm going to make some tea and some soup and chill out for a bit.
femmealunettes: (happy dance! : Jay and Silent Bob)
First, so no one can pay attention to it: the 66% positive meme. Plz?

Second, OMFG BURLINGTON YAYZ. Kristin and I, as planned, took the ferry over from Port Kent to Burlington. Yesterday was cold and dreary and a little rainy, and the lake was very unhappy. And so then was my stomach. Green? Me? Quite possibly. When we got off the ferry, we took a taxi out to the hotel (and on the way, saw the cute blond boy from the ferry hugging his girlfriend for like an hour on the sidewalk. Awww.), which was conveniently placed RIGHT NEXT to the mall. Sweet! So we ransacked that through (I got the cutest black and blue, Asian-patterned silk, bustier thingy), went end to end and then left again, much improved for the trip. CHUCK NORRIS PINS. Seriously, whoever made those for the WIN. "Love doesn't hurt. Chuck Norris does." Hell yeah. After that, we went back and swam around the hotel pool. I did laps until I got out of breath... so basically five lengths of the pool. Chilled in the hot tub some, ordered up Italian to the room, and watched Dane Cook on HBO. He's funny as hell, I didn't realize that before, but man... anyone got a Dane Cook CD they want to throw my way? I'm willing to trade, I have almost 10,000 songs on my computer and there's got to be something to trade with anyone. xD

Anyhow, that was yesterday. Today was a whole different story, because last night also involved a bunch of amaretto and coke, and I woke up.... with a hangover. :o I never get hangovers, but I've been actually taking the pillz, so it turned out badly for me. We checked out and waited like half an hour for a cab, tried to stash our bags in a bike locker but ended up just leaving them in the back room of a skate shop (Local Motion, if you ever hit Burlington check it out) by the waterfront (people in Burlington, seriously, are SO NICE and so easy to trust), looked through a handcrafted-t-shirt-art-gallery next door, and then took the long walk up to the Church Street marketplace.

The restaurant we went to for lunch, The Five Spice Cafe, was not only right on the way there, but INCREDIBLE. So good. All Asian foods, and the way the lunch works-- Kristin looked it up and we had the Dim Sum brunch-- was that everybody got an empty plate, and then the waiters would circulate through the room with big trays full of little dishes, each with a different food on them, and just hand out what you wanted. I had noodles with sesame peanut sauce, sesame chicken in a dumpling wrapper, some chicken with a berryish sauce on it, samosas, grilled eggplant which was spicy as hell, and something called "Evil Jungle Prince", which is basically the best name for food ever, even though I didn't like it too much (chicken with coconut-lemongrass sauce...?) It was awesome, anyhow, and on the way out some old guy was like "How'd you like it?" and as we talked to him I realized he was the owner. xD Which was cool.

Church Street was, as ever, most excellent and today was even more special! This weekend was the fortune cookie sale-- which means that a lot of businesses on that street had a bowl of fortune cookies with 10 to 40% discount tags in them, and when you checked out you got to pick one. I always got 10%, but still! And the lady at Full Tank (a most wonderful head shop) gave me 20%, because she was awesome. So I got pipes as gifts-- a very belated one for my brother, who LOVED it, thankfully, and one for George for helping me fix my computer up, and one for me because that's how I roll? It's cute, anyway. And I'm going to pass the dormouse on to my sister as a birthday present in a month.

At 3 we met up with [livejournal.com profile] insomniac_tales's sister, Becky, at Ben and Jerry's, and chilled there with delish ice cream in waffle cones, then did the other half of the street with her. I ogled the paperback edition of Areas of My Expertise, actually physically licked the audiobook copy (I'm healthy, don't worry), and left Borders empty-handed because I'd gotten like five books at used bookstores already. Got some Fresh Mint tealights at Yankee Candle for me, when I went to get big candles for my mom. Also hit up The Body Shop and got some edibly delicious-smelling perfume (satsuma and vanilla), lip gloss, and tea-tree face blotter tissues. Also also hit Lindt Chocolates and got mad crazy chocolate. I came this close: |----| to getting a bar of 99% cocoa chocolate, but I got the 70% instead because 99% would put me off chocolate for a month.

We got sandwiches at a great place next to the Flynn Theater, but I can't remember the name of it, and we ate in the park across the street. On a bulletin board were posted about ten or twelve pink and blue sheets with big ampersands in the middles, so I took my sharpie and added "hearts;" to all of them. xD It was awesome fun, and Becky is incredibly cool, but that is where the Vermont adventure ends, because from there we got our stuff and caught the ferry home.

Upon getting home, I crashed a bit, then went to deliver pipes and hats to Dennis and George. Like I said, they both liked them-- George liked his hat the most, he said he wouldn't even take it off to shower xD -- and I got to see my brother's apartment for the first time. It's pretty nice. They (he, Kyle, and the other guy who lives there, Kyle's brother) have a four month old pit bull puppy named Riley. Frank brought over his pit bull, who is I think a year and a half old, Smoke, and Riley was trying to eat Smoke. xD All biting, and the bigger dog was like "*sigh* kids..." and batting it away. It was pretty funny.

Came home, took a nice long bath and listened to the first disc of Dispatches From The Edge, finally, which was not a good thing to do in a candlelit bath tub (walls of water! mass graves! suicide! yeah, I feel way relaxed.), but now I'm all clean and warm and ready to call it a night.

Today was a good day. I am happy. :)

I was going to wait until it was done formatting to post, but it's at 90%, so here it is:

I have a new internal hard drive. :D

Mostly installed myself, with a save from the wonderful George Tyndall, who knew that there's a difference between setting a master drive and setting a master-with-slave drive and kept me from stabbing myself. xD 153 useable GB out of 160, utterly delicious and oh-so-blank memory just waiting to be filled up.

First task: moving my iTunes folder from C to T. Yes, it's the T drive. T for Tyndall. He did that when he set it up. xD

The Hush Sound: Stopped at the border, didn't make it.

The Dresden Dolls: kjhbkfvbkldjfklsjvf FUCKING INCREDIBLE OH GOD. Amanda Palmer plays the piano like she's having rough sex, all thrashing and growling and tossing her head. And Brian Viglione, jesus, frantic on the drums and sweat flying off him, that delicious hat staying just so while the rest of him goes wild. THEY COVERED JACQUES BREL. Amanda sang Port of Amsterdam in French, perfect rousing throaty beer-waving passion. God. SO good.

Panic! At The Disco: ejfkdjflkjsed! They covered "Karma Police" and "Tonight, Tonight" and I think I may want to kidnap Brendon Urie and make him sing it all for me again because I could barely hear him past the screaming emo kiddies. And his hips, and he dances, and when he walked off the stage his shirt was plastered to his back and transparent with sweat, and I think that was just too hot for my poor little brain to cope with.

Full report: forthcoming. For now, I am TOTALLY boneless and energyless and I have sweated more than I previously thought was possible. Fuck, today had to be like a billion degrees, didn't it? But it was nonetheless a wonderful day.

Note to Kristin: You have to do your movie quotes meme, it's Monday.

Note to myself: Call Dave after work. And do the concert writeup. And for god's sake do not even think about using Brendon Urie as a PB.

Today Amber and Kristin and Dave and I stood on a bridge while an endless train passed only a few feet below us.

I don't know when I've felt that full of energy, some rumbling kind of power that whispered to me, "It's okay, everything passes and everything goes on." It was exhilarating, the kind of thrilling that only happens at quarter to one on lazy warm late-spring nights.

Everything passes, no matter how bad it seems. Everything goes on, and if you try to stay with one thing it'll fade into the distance while you stumble over the present.

I've written over 5000 words in the past 24 hours. I don't feel good, I feel powerful. Like this is the energy I need. Something creative and fierce and capable of getting done what I need to do and what I want to do.

I'm kind of wondering if it's enough, but this kind of feeling doesn't leave too much room for doubts. If it's enough for me, it'll be enough to let me support my friends when they need me.

Kristin and I just had a visit from a Spirit Guide or something. We went down by the river to eat chicken nuggets and open the Green Book, and we were almost done with a chapter before Kristin goes all "Oh my god" and points and there's something white moving in the trees. We'd both been freaked out seeing Supernatural-type shit ("there's a dementor behind you!") and I was freaked out-- looking closer I thought it was like a chipmunk until I realized how big it was.

It was a skunk. As big as a big cat. And he just rolled on towards us, went up higher on the hill and kept walking by. Just here-panic-gone. And we looked after it and realized how lucky we were not to smell more skunky than we already did, and we packed up our Book and climbed out of there. Halfway back to the room I realized that that skunk had been a sign, like it was telling me "move on, get on with your life."

It was awesome. I'm no good at distance, especially in the dark, but we weren't more than ten feet away from him at the furthest.

Aside from the skunk, the night was basically the most awesome in my personal history of reading that particular book. The just-past-full moon was shining on us and reflecting off the silver river at the bottom of the hill (it's a pretty steep hill, we sit on the cement surrounding the drain into the river.) and just chilling and eating Little Al's, which is decent food when you're hungry but incredible with a little flavoring added to your hunger.

So, yeah. Yay for the moon and the stars and the river and Kristin and the spot and the clear night and the skunk.

Maaaan. Sleeping until 12:30 feels so damn good these days. It's waking up early compared to... you know, a month ago, but I feel so good.

I woke up because-- okay, geography lesson, there's a dumpster about 40 feet from the window here, and our windows are wide open because it's like 55 degrees and BEAUTIFUL-- and the damn truck emptying the dumpster literally sounded like it was plowing into the wall of the dorm. xD I was like "OH GOD ALIENS" and then I woke up and calmed down. And it IS beautiful, and the world is a beautiful place, and I'm going to wear a skirt today because I don't feel like washing pants. But I have to shave my legs, or wear knee-high socks, and I'm not sure I have any knee-highs. Alas.

Anyhow. I was having hilariously nice dreams, about Sean and Mickey going to a club and Sean being all protective because every time he turned around, some older guys kept trying to hit on Mickey. xD; Slightly inappropriate, considering, but for them it was one of the more normal situations possible (i.e. not set in an asylum) and it was kind of fun. I had dreams before that one, but I woke up at 9 because my brother called and I always lose sudden-wake-up dreams if I don't get them down right away. I think it was X-Filesy.

Speaking of Dennis calling, apparently I have a refund check at CCC. Which I wasn't expecting, thinking I owed them $300, but you know, if they want to give me money, I'm all for that. George Tyndall is willing to drive me out there, so I have to call him once I get dressed.

Man, it is SO nice out today. I want to go feed the ducks or walk around by the lakeshore or SOMETHING.

eta: Shaving your legs dry with only the head of the razor, the handle having been lost long ago?

Ow. But damn, my legs look nice now. (burnburnburnaaaahneveragain) Also, I picked up a very colorful bruise on my knee and I don't remember where. Not because I don't remember running into thing, but because I run into things SO OFTEN I don't know what's the actual cause. xD

Okay. The train? Was busted. I broke my glasses on the bus they used to take us to Albany, the train broke 15 minutes out of Albany, we were supposed to get to NYC at 7:40 and we made it there at 9:45. JESUS H.

But you know what? Fuck the travel, fuck the broken glasses, fuck all that because WE MADE IT. I have a spare pair, I can tape my broken ones (they broke at the nose, very Harry Potter), we got here okay, My little sister surprisingly rocks, and HI WE'RE HERE WITH SHELL AND AI FINALLY.

And last night, HARRY POTTER. AND MEETING KAIT. [livejournal.com profile] pocky_slash=love. also love, and spoilers )

In short, *orgasms*.

Then AFTER the movie, the car battery was dead, so we had to wait around. Until like 4 AM. It was okay, we had car raves, and Jason did a dramatic reading of "The House That Crack Built". xD

And, and, and, I LOVE BEING HERE.

Now to get ready for the concert, which is at 6. *FLAILS*

Today has been a very good day. :D

I found a cheap, used, pristine-condition copy of Closer, and one of Ocean's Eleven. SCORE FOR HOTNESS.

Lots of writing got done. SCORE AGAIN.

I got a quick, easy $40 off my dad for just keeping the house clean after our crazy debauchery party of doom Saturday night (by which I mean a little drinking downstairs and a little smoking upstairs and a lot of awkwardness.) YAY FOR MONEY AND ALSO YAY FOR NO TROUBLE.

And today I am wearing my halloween costume to work, (albeit without the blond streaks because I forgot them), and I am going to be VINCE NOIR

but I won't have any mod wolves. *tear*

Okay, okay, tired now, goood night world! and happy halloween.

I woke up to hear my dad accusing the dog of getting into the catnip. "Are you wasted, dog? Are you? Are you wasted?" She was acting pretty psycho. xD

Last night the cat actually curled up near the top of my bed and let me pet her as I fell asleep instead of purring at me from my feet. It was nice. She's a soft little bundle of purr. ♥

Yesterday, however, BEST DAY EVER. I have to run to church soon so I'll reference you to Kristin's post pending a full disclosure of my own. xD Suffice to say my dad is awesome.

And all night I had strange little dreams. All of my characters are resurging with the IHV project, and I kept dreaming about or for them, sometimes more than one at a time. Very weird, but not unpleasant. (Pax in particular was more hilarious than anything. xD)

...awesomer: My dad just came out and gave me his old phone, because he got himself and Rachael both crazy amped-out new phones. So now I have a phone that doesn't suck, and Julia gets hers back. Change in number to be noted in a locked post later, because I really don't need my stalkery public being able to reach me at all times :P

Okay, I've stalled enough. Time to get ready for church!

(eta: okay I lied, I forgot: yesterday before we left for Burlington the mail came. Two bottles + five(?) imps = happy Dani's nose. Unf.)

Color me delighted.

No, for real.

I slept for about 11 hours, woke up to INSANE amounts of BPAL (no, really insane: 4 bottles, 10 paid imps, and 8 frimps), and that thing I was worried about yesterday? Has resolved itself BEAUTIFULLY.

Also, my sisters found a cat, a cute little black and white darling with seven toes on each paw, and we've given her a flea bath and a collar and I'm not sneezing quite so much after handling her, and she purrs like a little motor if I so much as look at her sideways. And the dogs have stopped trying to lick her and she's stopped hissing at them. So we may have a new kitty, omg, I've wanted a kitty since I was little and never got one because my dad hates cats and I'm allergic.

And, god, I love it when RP things go better than I think they will. And new games, and rainy slow days, and brownies, and I smell really good, and this is so good.

I think I will finish putting away my clothes, go pet tha cat, and go to bed. :D
