My final grade in Physical Theory was 92.5, which is 20 points higher than the class average. Go me.

My new laptop just got here. I knew theoretically what 17.5 inches meant, but oh my god it is HUGE. I think it's bigger than my desktop screen. Wider, at least. I have to wait for it to charge before I can turn it on... but oh man, technology gets me all aflutter and this thing has my heart rate up. I'm glad I have the Bag of Holding because I think it's going to take the big pocket to hold the laptop. It's almost 8 pounds, which is like... okay, weight training while I walk if I have to carry it anywhere, awesome. xD

I am pretty sure I have to name my laptop Chuck. I mean, it just makes sense: tall, dark and nerdy = big, dark and technologically superior... plus it's an excellent excuse to use a Zachary Levi wallpaper. Which I'm going to have to make specially because hello, gigantic screen, you are far beyond a mere 1024x768. And because I just can't think of an appropriate Star Trek name for it, which is my most recent streak of tech naming. I started with Red Dwarf with Holly, my first desktop, moved onto the Weasley family with Percy the laptop and Arthur the desktop, had a decent run with Torchwood/Dr. Who names with The Doctor the iPod, TARDIS the phone, Owen the thumb drive and Toshiko the external drive, briefly dipped into Heroes for Gabriel the terabyte drive, then shifted onto Star Trek with McCoy the iPod and Spock the netbook. Yes, I realize that I am a gigantic dork.

Now, while this beautiful piece of tech gets all juiced up, I have to focus on English Lit. Maybe I'm a philistine for saying this, but I am so not impressed by Blake. I get that Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience are supposed to be extreme views on the human condition, but they're just annoying, they're not great art. In my opinion anyway. Hopefully I'll enjoy Wordsworth and Coleridge a little bit more. Mostly I just don't like the Romantics, is my problem with starting the course talking about the Romantics. xD

see, I get more helpful.

I just hauled all the laundry down and started it up, then carried back 80% of total towels owned to the bathroom and put them in the box in a nicely symmetrical way. :D Folding up my laundry, going to vacuum the second floor (Julia did the living room :D) and then it is me and the internet and Star Trek 2. KHAAAAAAAN.

Something I've been thinking about abstractly for a while but never really unpacked before: Tell me about your favorite canon character (any show/movie/book/musical/folk song/. Not just a name, but a full description that encompasses everything about that character. What you like about them, what they do, little details about who they are... but you can't reference other characters while you're describing them.

It's really hard for me to do. And to try and keep my head on straight. That probably made no sense, but it's been on my mind. Hohkay, Vacuuming starting... NOW

Mid-vacuum thought: someone should make a Spock fanvid to The Sound of Settling by Death Cab For Cutie. Y/N/MFY? Is anyone taking fanvid commisions? (possibly in trade and not money >.>) Inspiration?

Vacuuming end! xD The house will look good when Mom and Dad get back. Even my room is brighter and wider than it was.

I almost lost a fan out the window. At least it wouldn't have taken Butcher with it this summer. xD Julia and I watched him walk along the top of our chain-link fence like a sneaky hunting gymnast. And Xena proved that she's a narc in a sneaky puppy-eyed way.

Okay, movie time, back in two hours. :D Vacation for my brain.

Exterminate daffodils!

Things I Liked Today:
-Doing the cleaning I planned
-Doing some of the writing...
-Filling up Hiro-Kun and having 30GB to spare!!! :D :D :D
-Taking a nap and having Butcher sleep right next to me (partially under my arm, even) the whole time
-Most people likening me to S1 Hiro (with Sylar, Eden, and S1 Peter also mentioned) and also SAILOR MERCURY! Mercury Power Make-up! :D
-Apples! Om nom nom apples. I am pretty much living on apples and PB&J.
-Boycott Kellogg's for their treatment of Michael Phelps. Y'all, he toked up. Big effing deal. He won an assload of gold medals, I think he deserves to smoke a little weed! Get off his nuts.
-Alt-Ctrl-Sleep. Best drowsytime band ever. ♥ So lo-fi and dreamy.
-Waaaarm. Like 40 degrees warm, but still! Snowmelt! Open windows! (Still open, should close'em.)
-Spending all day in the Broom Closet. ♥!

and the best thing, courtesy of fandomsecrets:

Tomorrow I have an appointment with Lisa, and there is a new episode of Heroes. Hooray, Monday!

[livejournal.com profile] beachkid, I just got the books, OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH! You have entirely made my Boxing Day! (I knew the 26th would be a good day! Didn't I tell you that? xD)

She bought me If Not, Winter and Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson, and Green Grass, Running Water by Thomas King, and eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I am so completely delighted! \o/
femmealunettes: (bookworm at home : Gabriel)
My new hard drive is so sexy. ♥ I'm calling him Gabriel. So now I have:

C: Arthur (main)
D: Molly (backup)
K: Gabriel (1TB)
J: Toshiko (320GB)
T: Tyndall (160GB)
and Owen the thumb drive, 2GB.

Multifandom computer parts orgy? :D

I'm going to completely dedicate Tyndall to music, now, and I think Tosh for movies. And Gabriel will have the distinction of holding as many entire TV series as I can download.

femmealunettes: (this is the Captain speaking. : Kirk)

My god, look at Neil Patrick Harris. That BODY. I want to chew on his hips.

Sendhil Ramamurthy detained at airport. I especially like the picture that goes along with this bit of (fake) news.

New York City's new streetlamps are going to be LED, not traditional ugly sodium bulbs. I hate orange streetlights! And LEDs are way more environmentally friendly. Plus, the design is pretty awesome.

The fan-made series Star Trek: Phase II is shooting an episode originally planned for TNG, but dropped because of the importance of a gay couple to the principle action of the episode. Now, if we could get in a "trapped together on an ice planet, we must cuddle for warmth" scene in the Trek movie, that would pretty much complete my life. xD

On a more somber note: RIP, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, the First Lady of Star Trek. She held many important roles in the franchise during her lifetime, and the final one was just finished. Undoubtedly, the new movie will be dedicated to her, and her presence will be felt throughout it: she's the voice of the ship's computer, as she was in every incarnation of the series and most of the movies.

Finally: I got new bubble bath yesterday in my new favorite Bath and Body Works scent, and I also got The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which I plan to read in the tub. :D
femmealunettes: (girls know that ties are sexy.)
Happy thing of the day: PORN.

Seriously, even with my own room, you guys have no idea how hard it is to get a solid block of uninterrupted time when I don't have to turn the volume all the way off.

Mmm. Porn. ♥

oh, uh, here's something to keep this entry from being entirely about cocks.

here pussy pussy )

I can't stop adding to this post! HERE IS SOME MUSIC:

Tegan and Sara - Come On
Tell me what my hands were made for
Tell me who my mouth was made for
And please don't be mad at me
You'll get what you ask for
Come on come on come on
So very close to what you had expected
It makes it hard to keep my head up level
Tell me I'm what your hands were made for
Tell me I'm who your mouth was made for

hotness with acoustic guitars.

My mother just, in all seriousness, asked me to make sure that my sister is sleeping and not dead.

My night, if you couldn't tell, has been less than great.

So. A very early Happy Things post, because I need reminding of things to smile about.

Overheard in New York:
Father: It was the Million Man March. It was a million men marching in the capital for our people.
Son: No girls? No moms?
Father: No girls, just men.
Son: So there was a million penises?
Father (trying to bring it back onto subject): Yes. But it was the Million Man March.
Son: So there were two million balls?
Father: That's not the point.
Son: But everybody had one penis and two balls, right?
Father: Presumably.

I'm going to guess that kid is somewhere in Freud's phallic stage of development.

Two of the best pictures of Milo and Adrian (or Hanz and Franz) that have ever been taken, ever.

Last night, one of my friends was feeling down because of seeing something that reminded her how awful some people can be. I told her "some people can turn out so unfeeling and cruel to other people. But when you see someone like that you just have to take care of other people twice as hard!" And I'm happy that it made her feel better to hear it. (♥ Djuna!)

But I've been thinking about that all night now, and it's hard to keep that kind of caring up when no matter how much good you try to do, there will always be people trying to take advantage of you, or undo your good deed, or simply keep fucking the world up somewhere else. This isn't an excuse to give up, of course, but...

It's hard for me to express this properly, but there's a line between a spirit of service to your fellow person, and a spirit of servitude that allows people to use you, and I think I am starting to figure out where that line is, finally. Even if I would rather be taken advantage of by a few people and help many more, instead of not trying at all, it's good to recognize where I am being a blessing and where I am just being a sucker.

So that makes me happy too, I suppose.

Now, I would be happy if I could get a little more sleep. My eyes are starting to compete with Rahm Emanuel's for perpetually carrying luggage.

urge to ruffle rising... CURLS... agh!

Things that made me happy, December 15th!

Amanda Palmer serenading Neil Gaiman on the ukelele. She's so great, and he's so fucking adorable! It's 4 in the morning and he has this slightly dreamy expression and he keeps playing with his hair, omg. And then he shows her a video on youtube. xD

The plumbers are here fixing a backup in the pipes. Both the bathrooms were working fine, but we couldn't use the kitchen sink, the dishwasher, or the washing machine... so now we can have clean dishes and clean clothes! And I have first dibs on the laundry room. :D

Waking up to feedback ALWAYS makes me happy. People like my fic! \o/ YAY!

The snow is melted! Almost all of it! Of course, now every patch of grass is a marshland, but NO MORE SNOW ON THE GROUND~~~

All in all, I have only been awake for slightly over half an hour, and I am already subjected to much happiness. :D

Today, two things that made me happy!

[livejournal.com profile] shirozora is the resident artist at [livejournal.com profile] rahmbamarama, and doesn't just do politicians. Hence, Stephen Colbert:

And, hilarity via [livejournal.com profile] perdiccas:

Fast-forward to 1 minute, and do not drink anything while watching. (NSFW, by the way.)

Oh, okay, one more:

Rober Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes. \o/

So. Freaking. Cute. I want to snorgle the puppy and maybe Biden too, he's an adorable old guy

The rules are that for 8 days you have to post something that made you happy that day. Tag 8 people to do the same.

*shakes fist* Curse you, Djuna! Now I have to remember to do this every day! xD

Today, I Can Has Cheezburger? made me happy pretty much right from when I woke up. I love this site, I love LOLcats, and I really enjoy having something stupid to laugh about. ♥
