The interview meme, round eleventy, questions from [livejournal.com profile] bekkypk:

1. Is there any colour you wouldn't dye your hair?

Blonde. I would look terrible as a blonde. I would never dye it orange or purple, either. Colors my hair has actually been: brown, black, red, blue, green.

2. Is there a piece of writing you're especially proud of?

I'm very partial to my writing about Dewey and Parker, and Protection is the best of those. As far as fanfiction goes, I think Marked was the best Sylar/Mohinder story I ever wrote, but I'm probably most proud of Every Inch of You because it was written specifically for someone and it turned out fantastically. Best non-Heroes story was probably Steady Hands, Spock/Sulu hand porn. Because who doesn't love a spot of hand porn?

3. Is the bath or the hammock better for reading in?

They've both got their perks. The hammock is more comfortable, but I can't bring a drink out with me without it being in a bottle. The bath eventually goes cold, but I can always refresh it, and last night I discovered the joy of bath + novel + wine. I probably do slightly more reading on the hammock.

4. Do you have a favourite die/dice for D&D?

I'm a big fan of my d20. My least favorite is the d4.

5. If there were no constraints on where you could live after graduation, where would you go?

I've always been partial to Boston, but I do fear the crime rate in big cities, so probably one of the less dangerous suburbs of Boston. Definitely not Dorchester. Maybe Cambridge? It would be nice to live in Cambridge. I wouldn't want to live so far out that I couldn't catch the T into the city. I'm trying not to be totally boring and say I would go running home to my nice safe little life in Plattsburgh, that's going nowhere.

As always with this meme, if you want questions, just ask.

The interview meme, round umpteen, via [livejournal.com profile] savorvrymoment:

1) What's your fav video game?

My favorite game that I can actually play is Trauma Center. I beat it with Julia when we got it and I beat it with Felix two semesters ago. Favorite game that I like watching other people play is Gears of War. I spent a lot of time watching Dennis and George play it when I still lived in Plattsburgh and I like the storyline... I bought the tie-in novels and really liked them. I had a brief flirtation with writing fanfiction for it but never finished anything. xD Although I always had and always will have a soft spot for Katamari Damacy.

2) Fav fandom you're a part of right now?

Right now I am really enjoying rewatching Venture Brothers with Julia, and I'm writing most of my Kink Bingo squares for that fandom, but the actual quality of the fandom as in fanworks/discussion is pretty low. My favorite fandom that actually exists is probably Doctor Who right now. I'm loving all the discussion of the last episode. (Although I have to put in a mention for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.)

3) What does a romance partner have to do to really impress you?

Oh gosh. I am not very difficult to impress, or at least I don't think I am. A plan for a nice evening is always impressive. I like creative efforts made for me, whether it's a craft or a story or singing or whatever. Getting into a fandom with me is impressive (or getting me into a fandom). I don't know, I don't think I'm hard to please. People I've been with might say otherwise, though.

4) Quiet night at home, or a wild night out?

Always a quiet night in. I'm not much for parties or bars.

5) An oldie but a goodie: You're stranded on a desert island and can only bring 3 things. What do you bring?

A really good tent, an iPod, preferably classic, loaded with podfic, and a satellite phone so I could call someone and get my ass rescued. xD

Interview meme, round four: the sassy stylings of [livejournal.com profile] sigrundora!

1. What's your favourite place in the Ithaca Mall?

Aren't there multiple malls in Ithaca? I've only been to the one with the Regal Cinema in, and my favorite place there is the SPCA store because they have kitties.

2. If you could only listen to one artist/band for the rest of your life, which one would it be and why?

Probably the Mountain Goats because their catalog is so vast it would take me longer to get tired of their music. And their new stuff sounds so different from their old stuff.

3. Who is the better actor, Jean Claude van Damme, David Hasselhoff and Arnold Schwartzenegger and why?

Eurgh... I pass on all of them. If I have to have an action hero, give me Bruce Willis.

4. My Little Pony, old school or new version and why?

New, I never got into it when I was a kid and the animation on the new series is awesome.

5. What's your all time absolute favourite colour :D

Grey, boringly enough. Blueish-grey, if grey isn't a valid answer.

Interview meme, take three: [livejournal.com profile] msdillydally style!

1) Top 5 places you'd like to visit one day?

England, Ireland, France, India, Japan.

2) What's your favourite thing about fandom?

Connecting with people. I've made so many friends because we have a fandom in common, and discussing different aspects of fandoms leads to such interesting places, and I love seeing other people's creative output.

3) What kind of music do you like to listen to?

I really will listen to a little bit of everything (even a couple of country songs) but my favorite genre is indie rock. Out of my top eight artists on last.fm, six of them qualify as some kind of indie. (The other two are alternative/pop punk/emo.)

4) What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I briefly wanted to be a ballerina. For quite a while I wanted to be a librarian. Towards the end of my high school career I was thinking about becoming a teacher or an editor. I didn't really decide I wanted to be a social worker until about a year and a half ago.

5) Vampires, zombies or werewolves?

Werewolves, vampires, zombies, in that order. With some qualifications: werewolves turn into WOLVES, not monster-looking things (fail, Harry Potter, epic fail), vampires DO NOT SPARKLE unless they're wearing glitter to pose as glam rock gods, and I only really like zombies when they're funny (Shaun of the Dead) or when they're chasing after someone drop-dead gorgeous (28 Days Later).

SOOOOOO... if you want five questions, tell me your favorite My Little Pony!

femmealunettes: (significant glances: Amy and Eleven)
Interview meme, round 2: [livejournal.com profile] taliatoennien style!

(1) Describe your perfect fanfic -- something you haven't found yet, but you'd know if you saw it?

Oh man. Uh, this is actually wildly different depending on what fandom we're talking about, except I know for sure that none of my perfect stories have been written because I HAVE LOOKED, BELIEVE YOU ME. Obsessively. But they're kind of... niche? Because polyamory isn't easy to find in most fandoms, and a lot of my ideal stories involve threesomes-- not necessarily sexual threesomes, but three people in a mutually loving and appreciative relationship, and if it's got sex then hey, bonus! Because we all know how I love my pr0ns. xD But not all of them, okay, just... most of them. I can't help it, I'm completely fascinated by menage a trois situations, have been since I was... like fourteen. Possibly younger.

But anyways... my ideal fic could be either AU or canon-compliant, because I'm a total sucker for a well-written AU (AU is my third-most-saved category on Delicious, only after smut and humor). It would preferably be funny, or at least have evidence of a sense of humor if not being outright laugh-inducing, because I prefer things that make me smile. It could possibly be hurt/comfort, but I can't abide angst without a hopeful/happy resolution. It would have a plot to it, because honest, I don't only read porn, it just seems that way most of the time, and for most of my fandoms that plot would probably be a case/caper/situation requiring team resolution. The specifics are really dependent on fandom-- what I want to see for Venture Brothers wouldn't work at all for Sherlock, what I want for Sherlock would be horrifically inappropriate for Doctor Who-- but that's the general shape of it.

I'm pretty certain that I'm never going to get any of my perfect stories unless I win a really good writer in a charity auction, and I have no money for charity auctions, so that's not going to happen any time soon. Unless someone decides to write me something for a birthday present... my birthday is in one month and fifteen days.... >.>

(2) What's the most interesting thing you learned at school last year? Why? (Can be class-related, but doesn't have to be.)

I think the most interesting thing was toward the end of Science and Religion, when we stopped talking about religion and started talking about the philosophy of mind and (tangentially but very much related to that) the existence of a soul. It really shook up my beliefs to try and figure out where I fell along the spectrum of beliefs about the nature of mind and whether it's reducible to physical events or if there's some kind of new thing that happens when brain function becomes sufficiently advanced. I'd always believed in the soul but hadn't really considered why; I think that I still believe in the soul now, but I have a better idea of what I believe as far as the mind/body problem (physical self and mental self are not the same thing, how do immaterial things have efficacy on material things? why does thinking "I'm going to type these words" result in my fingers moving over the keyboard?) and the function of the brain as related to the function of the mind goes.

(3) How have your goals for the future changed this year?

They haven't, really. But my goals for the future are never very well-defined. I still intend to become a social worker despite my misgivings about my capacity to do it for very long without burning out. Now I just intend to get my master's degree in Massachusetts instead of New York, because I'm going to be moving with my parents when they go to New Bedford. My intention to run a club on campus got comprehensively shot down (but I've discussed my serious issues with how the voting was handled already) but I can still hold the same position I did last year, unless someone wants to challenge me for secretary, too, in which case I'm just going to hide under my bed and cry because everyone apparently thinks I'm incapable. I'm going to be the best girlfriend I can to Shane until the end of the year, and then we're probably going to break up because I can't cope with a long-distance relationship, so it's not like I'm making long-term plans on the romance front. Basically I'm just hanging on until I graduate from Wells and I'm going to figure out what I do after that in the spring semester when I have people to coach me through finding a grad school.

(4) Are you primarily a dog person, or primarily a cat person? Why?

I am almost entirely a cat person, despite the fact that I have owned dogs my entire life and have only had a cat in the past five or six years. Dogs just require too much attention, they're noisy, they're smelly, I mean, they're fine, I love my dogs, but I love my cat more. Even though Butcher is a jerk. Cats are mostly independent but they can be really loving, purring is a beautiful sound, and I like the way my cat smells. Plus litter boxes > pooper scoopers. Also, I'm more like a cat than I am like a dog.

(5) What's one thing you want to do this summer that you've never done before?

Uh... Finish a blackout on my Kink Bingo card? Make a hammock for my rats? Honestly, most of the things I'm planning on doing are things I've done before. I'm not really big on expanding my horizons right now, which is terribly boring, I'm sure, but I prefer security and routine to uncertainty and newness. I'd like to try some new recipes, but cooking is something I'm pretty good at already; I'd like to make some jewelry, but I've done that a lot in the past; I'd like to catch up on all my shows, but I'm probably not going to do that if I'm honest with myself.

Comment and I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

[livejournal.com profile] kittysorceress asked:

1. What was the most difficult fic you've recorded?

The most technically difficult was Monster, because I kept coming up with problems with that one. I had to re-record it three times, the last time after it was pointed out to me that the version I had posted was missing a whole bunch of the middle of the story.

The most difficult in general was History, Repeating Itself simply because of the size of it. I had to record different parts of it in different places, my mother and sisters kept walking in on me, it took me over a month to finish it-- and actually the anniversary of the start of recording is in a few days!

But the thing is, the ones that are the most difficult are usually the most rewarding. I still consider History, Repeating Itself to be the best podfic I've ever recorded, and Monster turned out so well when I finally got it right.

2. What do you think Sherlock's drink of choice would be?

I always imagine he drinks black tea with too much sugar. Unless you mean alcoholic drink, in which case he seems like the kind of guy that would wait for a very good excuse to drink something brightly-colored and fruity.

3. What is your most favourite album of all time?

Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie. Runners-up include From Under the Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy, The Life of the World to Come by the Mountain Goats, and Canon by Ani DiFranco.

4. Where would you go to see the perfect sunset?

I walk down the hill and cross the street when I'm at Wells and I go sit on the dock. I've seen so many gorgeous sunsets either there or from the rocks at the edge of the lake.

5. How do you like to get your daily/weekly/annual exercise?

I like doing yoga, but I'm very bad at staying motivated so I really need to have it as a class to keep doing it regularly. When school starts up again I'll be doing it twice a week. I'm not really very active besides that... I go on walks sometimes, that's about it.

yay questions

femmealunettes: (an excellent listener. : John)
Questions from [livejournal.com profile] emerish:

1. What's your idea of a perfect date? I like something that engages my mind that we can discuss, so probably going to a museum for a few hours, then having dinner and maybe finding live music somewhere we can have a couple of drinks.

2. If you could travel in time would you rather go to the past or to the future? Oh, definitely the future. I couldn't stand to go back to a time when there was LESS technology, I'm far more interested in seeing what we'll come up with in the future. Plus then I could come back and play the stock market to great effect.

3. If you could have any superpower what would it be? Intuitive aptitude, the ability to instinctively understand anything. That would be massively useful.

4. What's your favourite thing to do on weekends? Boring but true: sleep in late and smoke weed and watch movies.

5. Sherlock or John? John. I love Sherlock, but John is my second favorite fictional character of all time (well, any Watson, but BBC John especially).

femmealunettes: (colon capital D : TBBT)
Questions from [livejournal.com profile] chamonea:

How would you describe your sense of humor - what makes you laugh?

Oh god. I really have a pretty varied sense of humor, I like puns and I like complex jokes and I like slapstick and I even laugh at fart jokes even though I wish I didn't. Sometimes I try to pretend I have a more highbrow sense of humor than I do, but I'm a fucking dork, and it really doesn't take much to make me laugh. The last thing that made me laugh really hard... ahaha, was talking to Felix last night when he told me the worst pickup line he ever heard. I almost hurt myself laughing at that.

Which is your favorite fandom? Why?

My favorite fandom right now is Sherlock, but anything Sherlock Holmes has been my primary fandom since about the beginning of this year. I got into the canon in January and picked up the Granada series in February and I've just been entirely enamored of it since I saw the movie on Christmas 09, really. Why? Because I have a thing for geniuses, and Sherlock Holmes pushes so many of my buttons, and the ones he doesn't hit, Watson gets at. Between the two of them I basically find everything I could ask for. Sherlock in specific (the show, not the character) just makes me so completely happy, and everyone in the fandom is really pretty awesome. Plus I'm popular in it, that always helps. :D

If you were to choose a quote from a book or a movie/ TV show to describe yourself as a person, what would it be? Why?

This is really, really hard. :/ Everything I can think of is either pretentious or doesn't apply very well... so I might as well go all the way with the pretentiousness and quote Eliot:
No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be;
Am an attendant lord, one that will do
To swell a progress, start a scene or two,
Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool,
Deferential, glad to be of use,
Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous—
Almost, at times, the Fool.

How did you start recording podfics?

I don't remember how I became aware of podfics as a phenomenon, but I'd done college radio and a podcast before, and.... the first thing I recorded was Fall Out Boy RPS porn I'd written, but the first thing I admit to generally was a pretty tame Sylar/Mohinder fic of my own called "Everything In Its Right Place". I haven't recorded my own writing since then. I did podfics for my friends at first, offered them for charity once I was a little more confident in myself, and then started just doing stories I loved too much to not record. That's basically where I am now-- I record whatever catches my imagination. My most recent stuff has been rare pairing Sherlock fic. I've got three podfics for charity to do, and then one for [livejournal.com profile] betweenthebliss, and whenever [livejournal.com profile] irisbleufic writes the next one in her Sherlock series I'll be doing that.

If you could write a letter to yourself ten years ago or ten years in the future, what would you write about?

Definitely sex. Well, sex and love. I would tell my fifteen-year-old self not to give up on a good thing just because of distance, and not to do anything stupid just because of alcohol. Pretty simple advice to follow, but it would have revolutionized my life.

YAY I RAISED $95 FOR [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan!!!

Today I got to go home and pick up all the stuff I forgot, and went to Wal-mart to get the stuff I didn't know I needed until after I got here, and went to the liquor store too, all with [livejournal.com profile] atomicfiction. He got to meet my sisters and my parents and my cat. :D And then I got my room all tidied up, and I watched Ginger Snaps with Matt and Josh. And now I'm going to bed.

Tomorrow, I start roleplaying for the first time since early 2009. I'm super excited about it. :D

the question meme, round two

  • Aug. 22nd, 2010 at 8:44 PM
femmealunettes: (relax. I do this all the time.:Chef!Gabe)
Questions from [livejournal.com profile] sigrundora:

1. What is your favourite thing to bake?

They're not complex at all, but they're entirely delicious: my Nana's cherry squares. I can go (and have gone) days eating just those.

2. If money were absolutely no objection, where would you like to study?

Actually, I can't think of any place I'd rather go than Wells. It looks like it's going to be an excellent fit to my personality and temperament, and as much as I bemoan the student loans I have to take out, I'm actually getting quite a lot of financial aid, so it could be much worse than it is.

3. What is the farthest north that you've been?

Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. 46.8 N latitude.

4. Livejournal changes their scheme (again) and paid/permanent accounts can only have three icons, which would you choose?

Oh, this is HARD. Um... probably this one for happy posts, this one for a new default because I love it, and this one because Sherlock is my main fandom now and I have to show OTP pride.

5. Would you want to visit Atlantis (not Stargate, but the Ancient earth civilization) if they found it?

I'd prefer to visit the one in the Pegasus galaxy. ;D No, yes, I think that would be fascinating, as long as I didn't have to learn how to scuba dive to do it because I don't think I'd deal well with being underwater for very long. I'm not a very adventurous person. I don't mind a swim now and again but I prefer to keep my feet firmly on the ground or within a few yards of dry land. I don't think I've ever swum out further than... maybe 150 yards on a really adventurous day. I used to be adventurous in the Atlantic sometimes. Now I'd probably stick within 50 feet of the shoreline for most of the time.

Q & A

femmealunettes: (*thinks hard*)
I should have already started watching Doctor Who, but I only woke up an hour ago and I'm having a hard time keeping my eyes open even still. Ambien hangovers suck. :/

Have a meme while I try to jump-start my brain:

Leave a comment and:
► I'll respond by asking you five questions to satisfy my curiosity.
► Update your journal with the answers to your questions.
► Include this explanation and offer to ask other people questions.

[livejournal.com profile] tinypinkmouse asked me:

-What was your first fandom?

The first thing I actually participated in fannish activities for was the book series Redwall. It's about talking animals, basically, and I was totally into an RP group and played a badger. It was a lot of fun and it helped me hone my writing skills. I was... nine, I think? This is back on AOL 2.0, in chat rooms. xD

The first TV show I was fannish about was The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. I wrote terrible self-insert songfic. It was really really bad.

-When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you were all grown up?

For most of my childhood, I wanted to be a librarian. I actually worked in my school library in both elementary and high school, helping reshelve books and (in elementary school) reading to the younger kids. I get to live the dream a little bit because my work-study is in Long Library this year. :D

-If you could live in any fictional world, which one would you choose?

This is a little bit boring, but I'd want to live in the world of Diane Duane's Young Wizards series. Because it's basically our world with magic, and magic is used for good reasons, and in that world there is an afterlife and it's the place where everything that's ever been loved goes after it ends, and I think I would be okay with dying if I knew I was going to Timeheart.

-Did you ever have an imaginary friend?

I was pretentious and had an alter-ego, actually. Her name was Adrianna and she was sort of my muse, sort of a personality I could slip on when I hated being myself. Once I stopped being Danielle and started being Adrianna for almost an entire week. Not that anybody knew about it, but it was like taking a vacation from me. I don't remember anything that happened that week, though.

-What was the last thing that made you really happy?

Finding out that somebody who works in audiobooks thought my podfic was really good. (*waves at [livejournal.com profile] igrab*) That made me so excited, really. xD

yeah, guess who can't nap on command

Interview meme again, questions by [livejournal.com profile] shigogouhou:

he asked me... )
femmealunettes: (bedheaded : Wonderfalls)
Resurgence of the five questions/interview meme, spurred on this time by [livejournal.com profile] savorvrymoment! You know the drill: comment and ask for questions if you'd like them.

she asked me... )

I feel terrible today for strictly biological reasons. I went out for lunch with Dad and then we went grocery shopping at Wal-mart, and we both came home wanting to keel over for different reasons. Sometimes I really hate being a girl, seriously.

Tonight Mom and I are going to hit the drive-in. They're showing Marmaduke (which, ridiculous, but LEE PACE! who may not be worth it, according to the reviews on IMDB... but... Lee Pace...), Shrek 4 (I still haven't seen 3), and Date Night, which is the only one I actually want to see. That's okay, I'm going to bring a book light so if the movie is too ridiculously bad I'll just curl up in the backseat with Summer Knight.

Tomorrow is Jake's graduation party. My family was invited. I don't know if I'm going to go... it heavily depends on whether I feel like I'm being punched in the abdomen every couple of minutes or not. I would like to go, certainly. I like Jake, he's a nice guy and he's good to my sister. Plus, it would be nice to go to a graduation party, as I didn't have one (because it would have been pointless, as I have no friends).

...okay, I'm just going to shut up before I depress myself.
femmealunettes: (dear lj stardate 4242.4 : Spock)
The last gasp of the interview meme. xD Questions from [livejournal.com profile] betweenthebliss.

1. you post a lot, my girl! why do you still use LJ rather than another blog client?
The very first blog site I used was pitas. Did anyone else use that? It was not as user friendly, that's for sure. Once I got an invite to LJ, that was pretty much it-- I've had my journal since 2001, I'm a permanent account holder, and the only times when I go more than a day without posting are times when I don't have access to the internet. I used to have a GreatestJournal, and I have a Dreamwidth... but LJ is my internet home. No other blog site can match the community and the love like this place.

2. you are going to a desert island for an unspecified period of time-- what five seasons of TV do you bring with you? (you will have a TV and unlimited power supply, clearly. ;))
Season one of Heroes, Firefly, season two of Psych, season two of Big Bang Theory, season one of the new Doctor Who. Because as long as I have sci-fi and lulz, I am happy.

3. what are your three favorite TOS episodes and why?
Amok Time, because it's crazy awesome and Spock smiles. The Devil in the Dark, because fuck yeah, Horta! And... probably City on the Edge of Forever, because Kirk and Spock in civvies and McCoy going crazy and Edith Keeler being the original slasher. xD

4. if you had unlimited budget to cosplay as anything for halloween, what/who would you be?
I would be a functioning iPod with speakers. So people could come up to me and request music and I could play it for them and I would be awesome and made of tunes.

5. what are you having for dinner? XD
That is a very good question, and one to which I don't have an answer. I might just have a sandwich if my mom isn't planning on making anything.
femmealunettes: (curiosity did something : Butcher)
Interview meme yet again! This time, asked by [livejournal.com profile] candlewaxdreams.

1. Spock Prime or Reboot Spock and why?
Original flavor Spock, for sure. I love ZQ, but he's just not Nimoy, and there's no way he can really match what Nimoy brought to the character. I fell in love with Spock when I was 14, and you never forget your first Vulcan. xD

2. What is the first TV show you loved as a child?
I was always a big fan of the PBS standards: Sesame Street, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, 321 Contact. Not so much Reading Rainbow, surprisingly for me. Definitely Wishbone though. On Nickelodeon, I think the first thing I loved was Noozles, which I just found out is actually anime that was translated over for Nick in 1988. So I was an anime fan when I was three years old! When I got a little older, I loved Sailor Moon and the Real Adventures of Jonny Quest.

3. Where do you want to visit most in the world and why?
Frankly, I'm too fucking scared of a plane to go anywhere that isn't in the USA or Canada. I'd be too miserable of the prospect of having to get back on the plane to enjoy myself wherever I went. I'd like to visit Seattle and LA and San Francisco, but I'd have to go by train. Why there? Because they're cool places, natch.

4. If you were on a deserted beach, what three things would you want with you?
A laptop, a satellite modem, and a solar power converter, so I could let people know that I was stuck on a deserted beach and could they please come pick me up now? And I'd have something to do while I waited to be rescued. xD

5. How did you come up with the name Butcher for your cat?
My roommate really came up with it. She was obsessed with the drummer for The Academy Is, Andy "The Butcher" Mrotek, and he was such a cute little fuzzball that the irony of the name stuck it to him. His name is actually The Butcher on all of his vet documents, his rabies form, all of that legal stuff, and on his collar tag. I named the second cat we got Minerva, because she looked like McGonagall in cat form. We didn't keep the cats we named, and I'm perfectly happy with that, because Butcher is clever and Minerva was never all that bright. I prefer having a smart cat.

I am really trying to do my botany homework but it is such a drag. :( Plants suck, I don't want to know all this crap about them, I just want to eat them or wear them or smoke them or whatever the use is for that particular species. I'm happy being ignorant, okay? The nitrogen cycle is the exact opposite of enthralling.

the interview meme strikes back

femmealunettes: (bedheaded : Wonderfalls)
Interview meme again, this time from [livejournal.com profile] shimmeree.

1. What is your favourite board game and why?
SCRABBLE. Always and forever, Scrabble, because I kick ass at it and it's a lot of fun. I own a deluxe set, it just isn't in my possession at the moment. I have been trying and failing to get it back every time I've been back to Plattsburgh since I moved to Auburn.... but it doesn't really matter because nobody in my family would play with me anyway.

2. The world is sending a pod out into space for aliens to find: what 5 things (art, music, etc..) do you think should be on it?
With data transfer being what it is these days, we could theoretically send the entire Library of Congress into space pretty easily.... but that's a lot of junk in there, lol. I would want to send Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie, all the series of Star Trek, Van Gogh's Starry Night paintings, the collected works of Isaac Asimov, and The Princess Bride.

3. If you could bring back one tv show for one more season, what would it be and what would you want to happen on it?
Pushing Daisies. I would want real resolution to all the storylines, not the hasty "and this is how they lived happily ever after" wrapup from the last episode. Mostly, I want to know what happened once Lily and Vivian found out that Chuck was alive again.

4. What is one place on Earth you would never want to visit, and why?
I am perfectly happy never visiting the Middle East. I don't do well in the heat, or with the chance of bombs going off. I'm sure there are a lot of good reasons to go there.... but there are a lot of good reasons not to go, and I think I side with those.

5. Do you have a favourite BPAL scent? If you do, what is it?
My favorite BPAL scent is Dorian. It's so gentle and comfortable. I don't care that it's a men's scent, I love it.

I am officially out of cards already. xD That was fast. Now I just have to fill them out and buy stamps.

I should do homework or study or something like that, but I am so tired. There's really no good reason for me to be so tired, but I am. I might go lie down and read for a while. (for pleasure, not for school. if I read for school that would put me to sleep.)

chronic posting disorder

If I start posting too much, somebody tell me to shut up, all right? xD

[livejournal.com profile] sweetxtc666 gave me more questions for the interview meme!

1. What is one thing you would give up for the one you love?
I... would give up a lot for a person I love? It's hard to answer this question because I've been living selfishly for a long time now. I would sacrifice my comfort to make the person I love comfortable. I would give up sleep to be with them. I would give up my control over music, which sounds like a little thing but can be a pretty huge one depending on their tastes. I would quite literally give them the shirt off my back if they were cold (and I was wearing two shirts, let's be reasonable here). I don't really know what else to say about this.

2. If you had a million bucks, what would you do with it?
Pay off my bills, first of all. Buy my sister a car. Go to a spa with my mother. Send my dad on a vacation if he was feeling up to it. Buy a house, probably in Plattsburgh, big enough that I could have people I trust and love live with me and not have to worry about rent. Get an iPhone, lol. Buy an ounce of really premium weed. Take myself to a convention, the bigger the better, and geek out as hard as possible. If there's any left after all that, bank it for a rainy day.

3. If you could take one exotic animal and make it into a pet, what one would you choose?
FENNEC FOX. People do keep them as pets, but they're really hard to litter-train and they can be destructive. But I'm taking "make it into a pet" to mean housebroken and stuff, so: shit yes, if it were as easy to take care of as a cat, I would want a million fennec foxes. I would be a crazy fox lady instead of a crazy cat lady.

4. If you could make up a law, what would it be?
I'd legally define marriage as between two consenting adults regardless of gender. (and if I could slip a rider onto that law, I would legalize marijuana while I was at it. :D )

5. What is quality you adore in the same sex?
This... is really difficult to answer, jeez, I've been prodding at this question for fifteen minutes now and nothing I come up with sounds right. I'm pretty gender-nonspecific in what I like, if I like it about a girl I'll like it about a guy and vice versa. I don't know, I realize this is strongly colored by who I choose to associate with, but I like how creative women are. With words, with art, with crafts, anything really, I love it in anyone but I see it far more often with women. (and yes, I realize that I am up to my eyeballs in fangirls, and it's no wonder given what part of the sandbox I choose to play in, and this is not to imply at all that men aren't creative. /disclaimer)

That was hard. :/ Anyone else want questions?

I do love this meme.

Here are the rules:

1 -- Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 -- I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 -- You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 -- You'll include this explanation.
5 -- You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

Questioned by [livejournal.com profile] kikkirhodes.

1) As a general rule, you're not supposed to like covers more than originals but we all know that sometimes the cover is just better. What's your favorite cover that you think is better than the original song?
The traditional answer to this is: Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah blows Leonard Cohen out of the water. And I do believe that, but I have other opinions that come out in my listening habits. The cover songs I most listen to in favor of the originals: Calexico's cover of the Arcade Fire's "Ocean of Noise", Florence and the Machine's cover of Beirut's "Postcards from Italy", and Vienna Teng's cover of Damien Rice's "Cannonball".

2) Since Halloween just passed, I need to ask, what costume in the past did you put the most time, effort and money into? Do you think it was worth it?
Honestly? All of my costumes are cheap, tossed-together things. I don't think I've ever bought a costume in a bag, and I can't even count the number of times I've been a cat. My last costume, since I didn't do one this year or last year, was the Greek goddess Athena, and that was basically a nightgown with a little stuffed owl pinned to the breast. Not many people cared about my costume, I spent most of that night robotripping and reading tarot cards... ah, good times.

Most time and effort... I'm going to go with the only complicated one I can remember (which wasn't even very) and say it was when I dressed up as Vince Noir, King of the Mods.

3) Rainbow or chocolate sprinkles?
Chocolate, all the way. But I'll forgo sprinkles in favor of whipped cream, any time.

4) Dream job? (Could be anything at all - pretend schooling isn't needed or even make a job up that doesn't actually exist).
If I could make a living off of writing fanfic, I would be peachy with that. Well, i'd be broke right now since I've been not doing so well creatively for the past few months, but in general, shit yeah. Barring that, I'd love to be a professional student and just go to classes for the rest of my life. I like learning things. I'm kind of scared that when I'm done with school, I'm still not going to know anything I need to actually do anything.... so clearly the answer is to never leave school.

5) What is your opinion / feelings toward duct tape?
I am strongly in favor of duct tape. It's very useful, almost regardless of what you're doing. Many people do amazing things with it. I'm not one of them.

V is on in 15 minutes! Whee, new show excitement.

Sadly, the bunny did not make it. :( He was fine when my mom woke up, she said he was very active, and an hour later he had passed on to baby bunny heaven. Poor little Jeffrey.

Today was basically a wash. I downloaded a couple of things for the Interest Swap, watched Charlie Bartlett with Julia and half of my dad's attention (ANTON YELCHIN, HOW SO FUCKING CUTE), ordered all the books I need for my online course except one through interlibrary loan (I have to wait to order the textbook next week, screw paying for that), and now I'm here, trying to figure out how to end this Fringe fic.

I keep oversleeping because my dreams are way more interesting than anything real that's happening. Oopsie.

Tomorrow I plan on watching Snatch and the first episode of Jonathan Creek, per orders.

I hid under your porch because I love you.

I have so much fun doing these interviews. :D It would be greedy/silly of me to do any more memes at the moment, even though [livejournal.com profile] aurilly just put up a really cool one... >.>

No. First I need to make some sort of non-meme post. Heh.
