The Eclipse, Part One

*siiiiigh* Oh Heroes writers, you really don't even try with continuity any more. There were about as many things wrong with this episode as right... so let's get to it.

Okay, frankly? I am starting to agree wholeheartedly with the people who say there are too damn many characters. The problem is, I know that they're going to kill off ones I like, so I should stfu... but I could easily see Tracy and Claire gone without caring too much, Meredith too... wow, I'm coming off misogynistic, but to be frank the only women I care for at all are Angela and Daphne. I would be way more upset if The Hatian died than if Peter did. Once some of these plot lines get resolved, I'm sure I can add some of the boys to the list besides the minor villains. (Knox is still a creepy-looking guy. It's his eyes... buhh.)

This whole eclipse thing is pretty annoying, honestly. The assumption that all the powers came around with the first eclipse is patently ridiculous; there are more people who had their abilities before the eclipse than ones who got them on that day! Also, NO, Peter, Nathan did NOT fly for the first time on Eclipse Day 1, it was six months before that, on the night of Peter's graduation party. Also, Peter had been having prophetic dreams before then, Gabriel was well into being Sylar, Claire had made HOW many attempts on her own life...? (So basically, Peter is stupid, which is not news.)

It is interesting, though, that the eclipse also depowered the ones with artifically induced abilities. Handy for Mohinder, who came out of his cocoon as his lovely butterfly self (and nice ass, Sendhil!), not so much for Nathan and Tracy. Actually, Nathan got pretty seriously fucked over in this episode. His girlfriend/assistant/whateverthefuck Tracy is betrays him, his engines blow out (over a river, at least), his brother spanks him verbally, and he gets knocked out by a Hatian warlord.... shoulda stayed in bed, man. The Petrelli Brothers Showdown was pretty amusing... now I kind of want to see a Mario Brothers knockoff with Peter and Nathan instead. >> What, they're both Italian.

Also, how the hell are there new episodes of Ninth Wonders? Isaac was writing them, using his special heroin art skillz, so... what the fuck. Although the end scene was pretty hilariously recursive. xD I love Seth Green, and I can't wait to see how he and Breckin help Hiro and Ando. ♥ Those two are about the only ones I have no complaints about this episode. Then again, that's my consistent opinion on them...

Okay, now let's talk about my lovely fucked-up OTP. We all knew that the sociopath was still in Elle, and it's kind of refreshing that she's back on display! Gabriel's offhanded "You wouldn't understand" at the beginning while they're still in Pinehearst bothered me. Honey, if Elle can't understand your need for parental approval, who can? Her insistence on coming with him was squee-worthy... the whole scene in the car rental place was more "wtf"-worthy. (I do believe I said "what the fuck" in front of my mom several times around then...) I should have known they wouldn't be on the good side, but they really were sweet together for... oh, about fifteen minutes of screen time, total?

The car they rented? Plus them in it? Pure. Sex. Ohmygod. I whimpered. My mom gave me a weird look. I don't care, that was fucking hot. >>

Everything that went down in Canfield's house... I'm going to need to watch that a couple more times to make sure I caught everything. I really loved Noah training Claire. That man has moves. Mmm. Claire admitting that she held onto him tight when he came home so she wouldn't have to let him leave: heartbreaking. I used to do the same thing to my mother, and she was just a labor and delivery nurse who came home every day!

Noah and Gabriel fistfighting... yeah. I kind of bugged out when he dislocated Gabriel's shoulder, omgwtf OW. Zachary Quinto screams more in this episode than everyone else in the series combined, I think. (Not that I'm complaining.) And Elle shooting Claire FTMFW. Battle of the Blonds, part three: point to Elle. And then she got clocked in the face with a stick... so I guess it's Good Guys 2, Bad Guys 1... Is it wrong of me to think that Elle and Gabriel spread out on the floor like that was kind of hot? (Yes. Probably.) I'm just glad that his hair finally got ruffled up. I hate it all slicked back. :/

Did anyone else notice how ZQ's voice changed when Gabriel's powers went away? I approve. The rasp was getting a little bit much. And his whole confession.. "I understood everything... but now nothing makes sense." And he doesn't mind too much that his powers are gone. Oh, Gabriel. ♥

"We can't take what we want any more." "Says who?" AAAAAAHHH FINALLY, psychopath love! ♥ They're so friggin hot together. Noah Bennet, you are a jerkface. It's totally his fault that Elle and Gabriel even became monsters, so I can't be all that sympathetic now. He's being really stupid about nearly everything, which makes me sad, because I really liked Noah a lot but the past few episodes have chucked that out the window. :/

I NEVER NOTICED HOW FUCKING HILARIOUS THE "USING POWERS" MOTIONS WERE UNTIL THEY DID THEM AND IT DIDN'T WORK. Matt especially! Oh man, Matt, you big doof, you're so wonderful.

But really, he isn't acting very bright. He doesn't know Daphne, hardly at all, and it was completely unfair of her to run out on him for hesitating one moment-- fuck, even if I was in love with her, I still wouldn't completely trust her. I wish he would have been a little smarter about the whole falling-madly-in-love thing... at least, if you're going to read her mind, DON'T SAY EVERYTHING YOU HEAR OUT LOUD. Geeeeez.

But the reveal at the end? Oh god, DAPHNE. ;_; Now all the threats make sense. And that is completely fucked up of Arthur to threaten her like that, oh my god, I hate him so much, I have already mentioned how he isn't even fun to hate and this reinforces my opinion.

Now I will be shallow! My favorite parts of the episode: naked Mohinder! That sexy-ass rental car! Gabriel stealing kisses, aaah! Peter and Nathan fighting! Hiro chucking corn at Matt! Noah training Claire!

All in all, I'm a little bit more satisfied with this episode than I am disappointed by it, which sets it ahead of most of S3 so far. I'm not so much looking forward to 2x13... I'm still pissed off that I tripped over a spoiler, because now I have very low expectations for the remainder of the Villains arc. Oh well.

I am amazed that you were able to make this entry. My brain is still buzzing. And it was not THAT great but still... I cannot piece two words together right now. I think Sylar stole my brains.

Ps. I will come back and squee about the happy bits if you don't mind. I need to air out the hole in my head.

haha, I just had way too much to say! Absolutely come back and squee with me, that's the point of this post: mutual squee and mutual bitching! :D

I managed to write something and omg, almost went off in this Jack Coleman riff and omg... I couldn't even piece together a coherent thought on Sylar. I do agree with you on the mess of his hair.
