My date is still five days away and I'm getting a little more nervous with every day. I really want this to go well, and I don't have any reason to believe that it won't, but... it's still a little bit nerve-wracking. During tonight's check-in check-out at SAGA, Shane started it off and was like "so I have a date on Saturday" and Alex was like "OOOO DETAILS" and Shane was like "we're going to Ithaca..." and Alex was like "Is it someone at Wells?" and Shane said "Yeah, I'm sitting next to her" and I just kind of waved and grinned while everyone in the club was all "OOOOOH" so... now the whole club is going to be like "SO HOW'D THE DATE GO?" and it's not making me less nervous. I still don't know what we're going to see-- we were going to see Paul but it's leaving the theater before Saturday, which makes me sad because I really love Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and Seth Rogen and I wanted to see that movie really a lot. But whatever we end up seeing will be fine, honestly.
After SAGA Mary and I shared a pint of Ben and Jerry's in the Express Cafe and talked for a while. I'm pretty excited to share a room with her next year, I think we'll get along just fine as long as I can sleep while she's on the computer. We might have to arrange the room in such a way that I don't get the light from her computer in my direction, but I'm sure we can figure something out. Also if I have a problem I can just talk to her in a way I couldn't just talk to Emi, so we won't reach the point where I'm like "I absolutely can't stand your face any more." I should probably talk to her about the potential of sneaking a rat onto campus, it really won't work if she's got a fear of rodents. I can't afford to get a rat until I know whether or not my family is being moved this year... but even if we do get moved, the move will be done by July, so I might get a rat for my birthday. I'm already starting to think about potential names. It really depends on the color of the rat... if it's tan or tan hooded, the chances it will be named Watson are very, very high.
I downloaded the whole Mountain Goats discography last night and I've been loading the albums in chronological order. There are a lot of short albums that were put onto larger albums later on in the exact same order, so I'm ending up with duplicates... I'm only up to 1994 and I already have 380 songs. I really don't know how many tracks the band has altogether. It's a big number, I know that much. Which is just fine by me because John Darnielle = ♥.
I should really be finishing this essay, but I'm fucking around on the internet instead. Just because I can technically put it off until tomorrow morning doesn't mean I SHOULD. Curse my procrastinatory tendencies.
