I just finished The Universe in a Nutshell and I don't feel any smarter for having done so. In fact, I feel really dumb, because I lost what was happening way before M-theory and I don't get anything about branes or strings. My understanding fell off somewhere around the quark level.

Good thing I'm not majoring in physics, right? I'll stick with the humanities, they're less weird.


That said and done, my copy of the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy arrived today, so I'll be settling in for a leisurely re-read of one of my favorite series in the world to coddle my brain after being braned.
