femmealunettes: (secrets and promises : Holmes and Watson)
Step One:

* Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Ron/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

* If you wish for real life things (not stories or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:

Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.

* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Fluffy holiday fic. Especially with trios.
2. "Not a single fuck was given that day" fandom macros.
3. Anything off my wishlist.
4. Music recommendations. (Here's what I listen to already.)
5. Any fantasy or science-fiction books you care to send to me.
6. Tell me what you think of my poetry or I'll throw you out the airlock
7. Recipes for amaretto drinks.
8. Vegetarian recipes so I can make something nice for Shane and Mary next semester.
9. Help me figure out where I want to get the Sappho quote tattooed on me. (Let there exist for us not one single further sorrow.) I'm not sure if I want it on a forearm or on my back or what... ideally I'd like to be able to see it, but I also already have a lot of really visible tats and I don't know if I want one that will be even harder to cover up...
10. Add me on Facebook and play Words with Friends or Scrabble with me.

femmealunettes: (*christmas* John is Santa!)
Oh. Somehow I forgot to say Merry Christmas here yesterday. So... belated Merry Christmas, everyone? From what I can see on the ol' friends-list it seemed like most of you did have a pretty decent one. Let me tell you about my past couple of days.

On Friday I stood a kettle in front of Bass Pro with my brother, and we spent a lot of time talking about drugs, as will happen when you put the two of us together in a place where we should be showing a little discretion. He's been doing an awful lot of fun things since the last time I saw him, and I made him promise to buy me LSD next time he comes across some that's any good, and I'll pay him back for it. We only stood from 11 to 2, so it wasn't all that bad, anyways.

I got home and started recording podfic. I got two done, This New Game for [livejournal.com profile] etoile_dunord and The Knight and the Pea for [livejournal.com profile] beachkid. I was going to start another one, but then my parents announced that we were going out for dinner, so I switched clothes from my Wells hoodie (my bell-ringing uniform, it's so warm) to a nice sweater and we set out for Syracuse.

We had dinner at Tokyo Seoul, a Japanese/Korean restaurant (like the name doesn't give it away), and we all had hibachi and it was delicious. :3 I really like going places with my family, they're all very funny people when they have the chance to be. After dinner we drove through the Lights on the Lake, which was an entire park full of differently-themed Christmas light displays, and would have been much more entertaining to me if I had been five years old or stoned.

Then we got home around 11 and I RPed with [livejournal.com profile] atomicfiction until like four in the morning. :D So Christmas Eve was pretty awesome.

Christmas itself was also all right. I got woken up around 10:30 to do presents and promptly went back to bed after seeing everyone get their gifts from me (except Dennis, who handed me money and I handed it back to him, since we're both broke and uncreative, lol). I didn't get up again until 4, just in time for dinner (om nom nom ham), and then I spent about an hour setting up Dennis's new laptop for him, taking off all the useless programs and giving him the good ones. My real gift to him this year was a Demonoid account and a brief tutorial on how to use torrents. After that my mom needed help getting ready for church presents, so I went to the corps building with her and wrapped about 20 books. I also found a suit I could maybe use for the drag show, because it almost fits me and it would maybe even look good if I could successfully bind my chest. I meant to bring it home but I forgot it in the foyer as we were carrying out a bunch of things. I have to remind her to grab it for me.

And then I came home and went to bed at like 10:30 because I just could not stay awake at all, seriously.

My dad and my mom both asked me why I was sad, though. I'm not sad. I don't think I'm sad, anyways. I kind of want to cry, but that's more just a state of being than any real emotion I'm feeling. I guess it's kind of obvious on my face though, because when I'm not paying attention to anything, people think I'm depressed.

I'm not depressed, I just miss being at Wells. Which is a dumb thing to do on Christmas, but god, I'm going to forget what to do with a social life by the time I get one back.

Anyway, now I'm awake and I have been pretty much awake since 5, and soon I'm going to start cleaning my room and rearranging things, and maybe later I'll post a list of the cool stuff I got. I will definitely at least post a picture of the sweater. I'm glad I have a John-like sweater now. It's not perfect but it's close!

01. Books. Send me books you don't want any more, buy me the cheapo used versions of anything on my Amazon wishlist (seriously there are a bunch for a penny), send me fantasy, sci-fi, poetry, nonfiction you think I might like, if it's a book I'll like it.

02. Anything handmade. Make me a bookmark, a bracelet, draw me a picture, if you make me an icon I'll use it, a wallpaper, whatever! If you make it for me, I will love it. :D

03. Bath products. Bubble bath, bath bombs, bath salts, whatever, if you can put it in a tub and it smells nice, send it my way. (if you send me Lush, you will own my soul.) I like spicy and vanilla, most fruit scents, and most florals. Please don't send me jasmine, though!

04. Music. Toss together a few songs that make you think of me, or some stuff you think I'll like. I love getting new music!

05. I am going to keep asking for this until I get it, even if it takes years: Sherlock Stockholm syndrome fic with Jim as the one with the syndrome. If you actually want to write this for me, I can go into more detail if you want it, because... I really, really want it. >.> I want it so bad I've tried writing it myself, but I suck, so... please someone fix do it for me?

06. Silver jewelry. I only wear silver, I almost never wear gold, but I have worn every single piece of jewelry my friends have ever given me. My favorite necklace was from [livejournal.com profile] moorishflower, actually, and I wear it at least weekly. (lizaaaaard.)

07. Recipes. Give me your favorite ones. Baked goods, entrees, appetizers, drinks, whatever, if it's delicious I want to try it out.

08. Sweaters. I fit a men's medium or a ladies' large in most styles. If you go thrifting and see a cable-knit sweater on the cheap, think fondly of me. xD

09. Postcards. I put them up on my dorm room wall. Send me whatever's neat from where you are. Got pretty landscapes? The world's biggest rubber band ball? Nifty buildings? Whatever's cool, I want to see it.

10. If anybody ever wanted to podfic any of my stories... I know I haven't written any in a long time, but if you really liked something I've written and you wanted to record it, I would be overwhelmingly delighted. Even one of the really short ones. Just, hearing other people read my work = best thing ever. (and I feel kind of lame asking for it, honestly, but nobody's going to spontaneously decide to record years-old fic.)

my address, friends-locked

Please link me to your wishlists when you make them! I like to try to get something for everyone on my flist. ♥

hooray for gifts!

femmealunettes: (*Christmas Vulcan*)
I got two Yuletide fics, both on the same prompt. Apparently people really dug my Dr. Horrible prompt. xD

To Turn A Life Around is a really awesome fic covering all of Moist and Billy's friendship, from Moist's first attempt to use his powers for evil (kind of) through what happens after Penny dies and Dr. Horrible's mission goes off the rails. It's such a great friendshippy fic!

What a (Hench)man's Gotta Do is more funny, with a lot more supporting henchmen in the cast, about Moist's sneaky plans to do something nice for the depressed Doctor. Par for the course when he thinks his henchman duties involve the care and feeding of his supervillain. xD

I haven't gone trawling the depths of the collection yet because I got two brand new fluffy-as-clouds pillows for Christmas and took them for a test run immediately after breakfast. xD Rachael got me a gift certificate to the Riverbend Cafe, my mom got me lambie slippers and a blanket to match my robes, and I got a bunch of assorted little things. Not a lot of stuff, but I'm very satisfied with it.

Everybody liked their gifts from me. [livejournal.com profile] lheena, my mom really especially loved the journal! Thank you again for making it!

Now, I am going back to burning Criminal Minds for Dennis, and then there will be turkey and at some point after that, Sherlock Holmes!

Oh: two of the more fun gifts I got, fun in serious finger quotes... SnoreStop pills, which, I had my tonsils removed in fourth grade so I wouldn't snore any more and I was offended when my father told me I kept him up a few nights ago-- I'm sorry, I kept him up? That's quite a role reversal! And the CD series "The Revelation: Living daily with the end in mind." Which, terrific, like I need a) more religion in my life and b) more fuel for my deepest anxieties. No thanks, I'll stick with my soul-defiling podfic if I want someone talking in my ears, I think.

The Wish List, hooray! One note: This meme has been alive since 2004. That's kind of incredible, isn't it?

da rules )

1. Mail. Write me a letter, send me a postcard, find something you don't want any more that you think I might like and stick a mailing label on it. I adore getting mail from my friends, but it doesn't happen a lot. You will make my week even if you just scribble down a little "hey what's up?" Heck, send me a PostSecret, I'll never know which one of you it is, and I promise I'll keep your secret. Or, you know, a Christmas (/winter holiday) card is good too. :D

2. Music. Make me a mix CD, upload me a playlist, or just toss a couple of songs at me and say "hey, these made me think of you." You guys know how I am about music! I'll be delighted with anything you do with me in mind.

3. Wallpapers, icons, or an LJ layout. If you have some Photoshop skillz, you are automatically better at it than I am. I will adore and make a huge grateful deal about anything like this.

4. This may sound corny, but hell with it: Call up your local Salvation Army, and offer a couple of hours to stand at a collection kettle and ring the bell. You don't have to do it alone; it's more fun with a friend, actually. I know I bitch about it a lot, but really, donating your time like this can make you feel so good about the world if you go into it with an open heart and a good attitude.

5. Anything handmade. Bookmark, bracelet, cat toy, doodle-sketch, a hat, a scarf made out of old t-shirt scraps, I don't care, as long as YOU make it, I will love it. ♥

6. Anything on my Amazon wishlist, but most most most especially If Not, Winter. I have been craving this Sappho collection/translation for a while now, and it is my number one do-want.

7. Recipes! Give me one that's been in your family for ages, or something you found in a magazine that makes your tongue have orgasms, or something you use as comfort food. Even better: mail me cookies. :P

8. Something that smells nice. A candle, oil for a fragrance burner, incense, perfume samples, bitty bottles of lotion, chapsticks, whatever, anything! Just no jasmine. I don't do well with jasmine.

9. Write something for me. An original story, a poem, or fanfic, I don't mind. Hijack one of my Yuletide prompts, dash off a drabble about whoever I'm squealing about this week, compose a limerick about why we're friends, or go all stream-of-consciousness and just let out whatever's in your head.

10. Be excellent to each other, dudes. Be conscious of the people around you, and work to make their lives better. Hold open a door. Reach a higher shelf for someone short. Pick up something from the floor for an older person. Make dinner for your family. If someone is sad, hug them. If someone is happy, share their joy. If someone is scared, let them know that they aren't alone, and that things will get better. Be the butterfly flapping its wings: I'll feel the ripple effect from it sooner or later, after all.

This is my address!

Now, leave me links to your wish lists, darlings! I try to do something for everyone I see. ♥

(Man, now I have to go get Christmas cards to be ready to put up THAT post soon. I wonder where the leftovers from last year are...)

*taps on glass* Hello? Anyone out there? I feel very alone...

A little over two hours to finish my Advent fic for tomorrow, and I think I'm going to be able to do that. Cheating for the 20th, I'm going to do a little fanmix with a song for every pairing I've written this month. (Some are very silly.)

Tomorrow I have to ring bells. I'm not sure from when to when; we're supposed to get slammed with snow, so even if I'm indoors, there's still a chance of an early end to the evening due to bad roads. At least I didn't have to do it for most of the season! :D

I got my dad one of those super-soft robes from Bath and Body Works, and I wrapped it up in a Victoria's Secret bag. I crossed out Victoria's and wrote in Dad's. xD I think I'm hilarious, and apparently I am the only person alive who thinks so.

My plans to be in Plattsburgh for New Year's have been dashed. First we're going to New Bedford (meh), then we're going to Maine (meh again, except it'll be good to see Poppy), and THEN I'll get dropped off there on the way back through and I can take the train home. Which is okay, but the point was to be there for New Year's Eve so I could see everyone (or mostly everyone) in one place. :/ Oh well. As long as I make it there, I can't complain.

For some reason, my tattoos itch. What the fuck. Okay, I'm going to write. Yep. This is officially knocking the Claude/Noah/Sandra fic out of highest word count, too. Mylar makes my toes curl. xD
femmealunettes: (merry christmas. have some brain-nog.)
Yeah, I'm totally doing it.

Look this way for my advent calendar... and be forewarned, it's all Heroes fic, every day! It looks pretty ace, if I do say so myself. I only hope the quality will live up to the dope-ass graphic, lol.

:D

I am up for taking more requests to finish the calendar... I thnk I have about half of them good to go.

femmealunettes: (CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!)
First: You might notice the Christmas tree on my profile. It's my LiveJournal Christmas Tree, and I am resurrecting the meme from last year.
So, dear friends of my list, please give me presents to put under it. Draw, use pictures, whatever - give me pictures of presents, about 100x100 pixels. This is your chance to give me something completely insane for Christmas! So do it. Please. Because it'll be fun. :D Leave it riiiiiight in this post.

Second: the Christmas Wish meme. You know this one. Step One, make a list and spread it around, Step Two, look for other people's lists and be a Christmas Fairy when you can be. (Step Three, make her open the box....)

my ten wishes, not including a dick in a box )

Third: If you want one of your icons tricked out holiday-style, just say so here. If you want a holiday card, leave your address and holiday of choice in a comment here. And if you want to send me one, here's my addy, nice and f-locked. :D (Comments screened, obvs...)

Fourth, if I forgot anything, I'll add it on here later.

We don't have a star or an angel on our 100% fake Christmas tree this year. I don't even know when it was put up, or if anyone besides my mom decorated it. But it was there in the corner of the dining room shining away despite all that during our party.

I was all helpful and stuff, mostly because my room/the basement living room had been invaded by my mother's friend's kids, and I'm just too awkward around them, so I didn't even go down much. Just stayed up and set stuff out and got drinks for people. My mom gave me one of my gifts early, a skirt she made for me, and it's gorgeous-- all black velvet and black lace over silver silk and silver stitchery over black silk. It's lovely, totally gorgeous, and I dropped the pinstripes to swish around in it most of the night. I need to get pics, because, unf, it's beautiful.

I only got the urge to cry a few times, and fought it off pretty successfully, and now I feel better. I'm all warm and soft in pajamas that my mother made for me, too, wonderful blue clouds and moons and stars, silky on the outside and flannely on the inside, awesome.

Yesterday Kristin got me Serenity, but I'm too scared to watch it. D: I'm a pansy, I know I'm gonna cry again. I got myself Sky High, I might bring that to Maine to watch with the family. Dunno yet. I really should pack for that now, but... yeah. Can do it tomorrow.

And I suck, because I'm still finishing Christmas cards and stuff. [livejournal.com profile] pocky_slash, I'm mailing you a package Monday morning... are the post offices open Monday? Maybe Tuesday, I don't know, is Boxing Day a holiday only in Canada?

Tired, today was very long. Bed soon, and then omgwtfsantaklaws.

Merry Christmas, peoples. ♥ Love you all.

femmealunettes: (hello there.. : Ville Valo)
Wow, I spaced out last night.

Yesterday work passed hella quick, which is always nice when it happens. There was one instance in which I thought my dad was gonna pimp-slap a bitch, but it didn't happen, even though it would have been HI-larious. Kristin and I exchanged presents, if any of you have her on your flists then you already know I did like the best thing ever and got her two movies and two CDs co-starring or by her favorite PB ever, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, who is, as shown here, an incredibly fine piece of ass. She flailed and stuff, I would call that mission accomplished re: giftgiving. *gigglefits* She got me this awesome tiny wood-and-leather suitcase to hold my BPAL, which I need to fit out with a wood lattice-type thingy to divide the bottles up and it's awesome.

After work, we hung out with Amber, finally, after far far too long, and gave her her presents too, and then we went and looted the mall. xD And, wow, Amber has been up to the most incredible hobby when she wasn't hanging out with us, collecting street signs. I'm so jealous, I only had one and it was my own street sign. She has, like, TOWN signs. xD

So, yes, looting. We got the last part of Jessmika's Kristmus Presentes, I lifted Freaks and Geeks sans box for Amber, got Harold and Kumar for myself, and in EB Amber bought me Kung Fu Hustle and The Bourne Identity and Kill Bill all used and I got Evan the cute guy who works there to give me a creepy weird Korean film for free. xD And, aklsdjlkjs, Kristin totally went back in after I left and was all "hay du think mi frend iz kyute circle yes or no" and apparently he got that stupid look that means yes. Or something. Aaaah. But he's not dating, which is, you know, okay because neither am I. But. Aaah.

Other things looted: two pairs of pants, a jacket, a shirt, three miscellaneous DVDs, Tinkerbell pins for Kristin. I don't know what everyone else got, we're too sly we don't even see each other working. xD But it was a very productive day, and hanging out with Amber is the ++fun.

Oh. Oh, right. I saw Amit, who I haven't seen since I let him borrow my pipe and he broke it the second half of my freshman year. He's working as a Santa elf, and he's going to India in like a week, and almost the first thing he said to me was "Wow, you have lost a lot of weight." So, black is a good color on me, because I don't think I've lost more than five or six pounds since he saw me if I haven't gained some. xD But you know, compliments are always good. I was all "eee."

And, final note, wow is it strange to realise a whole chain of relationships. One day I'm going to sit down and make a chart of how my characters know each other, because a lot of them do.

But that day will come after I finish my christmas cards. omg these are going to be so late.

eta: Last night I weighed myself, and this morning I weighed myself. And I apparently lost three pounds overnight. Some of that was clothes, I get that, but... still. That doesn't seem right. I'm not going to complain unless I'm sick, I just hope I'm not. Yet. Not until I get insurance again.

(And I'm digging out addresses for [livejournal.com profile] melissamaxwell and [livejournal.com profile] kikkirhodes.)

Don't see your name up there? Want a card from me? Drop a comment here, they're screened, and leave your name, address, and what holiday you want a card for. Because, as [livejournal.com profile] himekokurai can tell you, I'm the kind of person who will send out Christmas cards as defaults (albeit cute and funny Christmas cards, not Jesus-baby-awr!-Christ cards), so if you're Jewish or Buddhist or a worshiper of Cthulhu, let me know so I don't send you an inappropriate card, mkay?

And while I'm here: [livejournal.com profile] himekokurai! DID YOU GET YOUR PACKAGE. The post office says it was delivered 12/3, if you haven't received it I shall be very cross and stamp my feet a bit.
