Here are the videos from the concert I went to on April 2nd! They turned out really well. The video is really steady and the sound is pretty good on all of them. I'm mildly amazed my own singing along didn't get recorded, but also pleased about that because you can hear John really clearly. Stars on the ones I think turned out best!

I don't really do tumblr any more because I stopped using Firefox and having access to two-click posting... and I'm lazy.

On a separate topic, who's heard Two Door Cinema Club? My sister introduced me to them and I really like their sound... and the lead singer is super cute.

Sherlock Holmes, series 3

  • Jan. 25th, 2011 at 7:23 PM
femmealunettes: (wake-up call : Holmes and Watson)
I'll try to finish uploading the whole series in the next few days, since I won't be able to upload once I'm back on campus.

3.01 - The Empty House
3.02 - The Abbey Grange
3.03 - The Musgrave Ritual
3.04 - The Second Stain
3.05 - The Man With the Twisted Lip
3.06 - The Priory School

...I want to know why there are 200 downloads of the first and second episodes, and only one or two downloads of all the rest so far. If someone's linking these around, at least link the whole series, not just the first two! (well, or you could just link people here.)

femmealunettes: (top hats rule : Holmes and Watson)
And because I also promised these, here's the Granada series of Sherlock Holmes, starring Jeremy Brett and David Burke.

1x01 - A Scandal in Bohemia
1x02 - The Dancing Men
1x03 - The Naval Treaty
1x04 - The Solitary Cyclist
1x05 - The Crooked Man
1x06 - The Speckled Band

That's season one. I'll upload the rest of them if anyone expresses interest in them, but not many people downloaded the Russian ones, so I'm not going to spend all night uploading if nobody wants them.

Sherlock Holmes - full Russian series

femmealunettes: (hold tight to what's real:Russian!Holmes)
I promised [livejournal.com profile] storylandqueen I would upload the Russian series of Sherlock Holmes for her, and I figured it might have more general interest than just for CL, so here it is! Split files need to be rejoined with HJSplit.

Episode 1: Acquaintance file 1 file 2
Episode 2: Bloody Inscription
Episode 3: The Master Blackmailer
Episode 4: Deadly Fight
Episode 5: Hunt for the Tiger
Episode 6-7: The Hound of the Baskervilles file 1 file 2 file 3
Episode 8: The Treasures of Agra, Part 1 file 1 file 2
Episode 9: The Treasures of Agra, Part 2 file 1 file 2
Episode 10: 20th Century Begins, Part 1
Episode 11: 20th Century Begins, Part 2

This is a really excellently done series, even if the subtitles are a bit laughable in places. It was taped from 1979 to 1986, so most of it was already done by the time the Granada series began taping. This Holmes is a little less prickly than other interpretations, and this Watson is... a bit precious, really. I really like Vasily Livanov's scratchy voice. I highly recommend Acquaintance, Master Blackmailer, Hunt for the Tiger and Hound of the Baskervilles (you will DIE at this version of Sir Henry, he is a trip and a half!). For extra fun, count how many times you see Watson eating in each episode! (hint: it's a lot.)

There you go, don't say I didn't give you anything for Christmas. :D

Here, have something funny about overturning Prop 8:

Justin Long ♥ It made me giggle, anyways.

I don't have much to say yet today. Movie time soon, food time first.

Oh wait, I do have something to say! Today is the closing arguments of the Prop 8 Trial in California, so I'll be reloading the Prop 8 Trial Tracker somewhat compulsively all day long. Keep your fingers crossed for Judge Walker to be as fair and rational as he's appeared to be throughout this trial so far.

Did you guys know that there was an oil spill almost exactly like what's happening now, in 1979? I think I can be forgiven for not knowing, seeing as my parents weren't even dating at the time, let alone my birth being in the same decade... but shouldn't somebody have known about this and, I don't know, PUT THE KNOWLEDGE TO USE BY NOW?

So much for all the great advancements in science in the past thirty years... apparently "don't do something that's been proven not to work" isn't one of those advancements.

I haven't really said anything about the oil spill because I'm stupid and uninformed and watching the news actively depresses me these days, but this bears spreading about, I think.

Okay, this is SUPER BIZARRE but also kind of hilariously awesome. Through a chain of people that stretches back to Dreamwidth user box_in_the_box, this "Italian parody of a 60s/70s pop song is sung entirely in gibberish designed to sound like American English. If you've ever wondered what other people think Americans sound like, this is it."

My brain was desperately trying to make words out of the nonsense. xD At least we got an occasional "all right" which, I guess, is very American?

might as well be optimistic

One bright spot about this being awake bullshit: I am now clear on the word count with my White Collar exchange fic. It's not all that witty, but I can edit it. I just got an idea for the bare bones of it and now it's written down so maybe I can get back to sleep. I have no idea how to end it, but hopefully that'll iron itself out if I rewatch an episode or three. Just, I have 500 words, so now I don't have to worry about it.

and now, to make this post worthwhile: painted hunting dog puppies in a kiddie pool!

Day 30: Whatever tickles my fancy

...and I end the meme one day late, surprising absolutely nobody. :D

I want to go out with a big finish, so let me present to you: (mostly) sexy male geeks performing an ode to a font to the tune of one of the catchiest songs of last year!

...something about how sexy doesn't always translate across gender lines should go here, except I think most of those guys pulled it off pretty well actually. What can I say, I have a type (lol, inadvertent pun) and these guys push those buttons. AND THAT ONE GUY'S MUSTACHE. WHO CAN PULL OFF SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN THIS ERA? IT'S LIKE A WORK OF ART. You'll know which one I mean.

So, I hope you've all enjoyed this month-long trip through memeland with me. I had fun! Now I'll go back to my usual randomly spaced, non-daily meme style. (and everyone sighs in relief.)

There's a new Symphony of Science video out today!

It's called "The Unbroken Thread" and it's about life and it's really really cool, so watch it and be all "oooh, science!" because science is awesome.

I got everything done outside of the house that I needed to do, AND I'm almost done burning all of Criminal Minds for my parents' friend. Well, I finished burning the DVD copies, now I'm just using DVDs for data files so she can have season 4, and I am not even trying to get her season 5; she has TiVo so there's no excuse for her not to have them herself. xD

Once I finish those for Shari, I get to start on another bout of ripping for my brother. He left a stack of shows and movies he wants... and I get the extra DVDs when I'm done, so I'm not complaining too loudly. It takes a long time to rip one season of a show though!

My cleaning plan for later is the second shelf from the floor of my bookshelf, which has become overrun with scarves, stuffed animals, and books that aren't in their proper places. One shelf at a time is about all I can cope with. xD

If you live in the United States, you do not have to talk to a police officer if they want to ask you anything. This law school teacher tells you exactly why you should not, no matter what, even if you're innocent.

I don't know how it works in other countries, but for my fellow Americans: hug the Bill of Rights. Give it tender kisses. It loves you. You should love it back.

I kind of wish the trainers on Wii Fit had names, because it's a lot easier to say "fuck you, $name" than "fuck you, Wii Fit trainer person" when I'm about to fall over from doing lunges and she says "you put your knee down, didn't you?"
