Oh. It's only been a week. Still, that's a long time for me to not blather about my life! So here we go.
Tuesday I had my final exam for World Religions. I'm pretty sure I did okay... not nearly as awesome as on the midterm. I was about 3/5 through my final essay when I realized I had totally forgotten one of the five pillars of Islam. So there's not much of a way I can get more than an 80 on that section, so even if I ace everything else (and I know I didn't) I can't get higher than a 95... I'm anticipating high 80s, honestly. :/ Oh well.
I miss Heroes a lot less than I thought I would, probably because I have about a zillion other shows I've downloaded to fill Monday nights. I just caught up on Fringe (like ten minutes ago, literally just) and, oh my god. I actually am way more excited about the Fringe finale than I was about the Heroes finale. omgWalter ;_; I anticipate a summer marathon, perhaps making my mom watch it with me.
This morning I made a kick-ass apple cake. :3 The recipe isn't online, but I can type it up if anyone wants it. After that was done, my dad let me know that Butcher had thoughtfully left me a present in the garage... a robin with its head barely hanging onto its body. *gag* For some reason, I thought it would be a pigeon and it was so much worse when it was a robin! Poor little harbinger of spring. Now the vicious hunter is curled innocently with his head on my pillow. I know the truth about what lies in his murderous heart... I knew I should have named him Gabriel. >.>
I have a very, very part-time job now. It's more like volunteering with a bonus, I'm going to be spending a couple of afternoons each week with a lady with Alzheimer's, taking her out when it's nice and sitting and talking to her and generally being social, because her daughter only gets in to see her once a month. $50 a month for being a kind person isn't a half-bad deal, and it's not like I need a whole lot of money... I mean, I know I need a real job, but. You know. Bleh, employment. (ahahaha this is why I fail at life)
Writing has been so laborious lately, it makes me want to cry. I'm still only halfway to the required word count on my exchange fic and it's going to go at least twice that long if I'm going to do it properly. And I am going to do it properly, because you can tell when someone goes half-assed on a fic that's meant for you. >.> I just hope she'll like it. But I need to finish it before I worry too much about that. -_-;; I've also barely been able to RP. I just... suck at Vortex, everyone else is doing five threads at once and keeping up with them and I can't even figure out what the hell the one character I'm actually playing right now is doing. *facepalm*
I COULD see Star Trek tonight, but Mom decided we're going to see it tomorrow afternoon. Like, lunch and a movie. That's cool too, but... *WHINE* I WANT NAO PLZ.
I have two Dreamwidth journals now. There's speccygeekgrrl for fannish stuff, and dani for real-life stuff. I like the layout for the personal one. :3
This is cool: May 15 is Blog Like It Isn't You Day. I don't yet know who I'll be blogging AS, but it won't be me, lol.
Now some fun links:
The Espresso Book Machine can print and bind any of 500,000 books in five minutes. This is going to be brilliant for those people who sit around cafes with books to look interesting. xD
Ah, the drug debate. Portugal decriminalized drugs and it was a damn good idea, actually. One of the many aspects to the plan:
The argument was that the fear of prison drives addicts underground and that incarceration is more expensive than treatment — so why not give drug addicts health services instead? Under Portugal's new regime, people found guilty of possessing small amounts of drugs are sent to a panel consisting of a psychologist, social worker and legal adviser for appropriate treatment (which may be refused without criminal punishment), instead of jail.
Did you ever look at a penis and think "huh, how funny-looking?" There's an evolutionary rationale to the shape of the human penis. Best line from the article: I once spent a summer with a 450-pound silverback gorilla that was hung like a wasp (great guy, though) and baby-sat a lascivious young orangutan that liked to insert his penis in just about anything with a hole, which unfortunately one day included my ear. NICE. xD
Bordeaux is a nifty little film made by Zach Quinto's production company. There isn't any actual video footage, it's made of OVER 9000 still images, and it will make you giggle, I promise. :D
Okay, FINALLY, I swear this is the end and it's kind of lame:
Would anyone be interested in buying the first two seasons of Coupling from me? They're in perfect condition... actually, the plastic wrap is still on the cases. I just never got to watching them. Amazon has them on sale for $41, would anyone pay $35 for them? >.> Okay, I'll stop using my LJ as a sales pitch and get back to laundry now. ♥
