the 12 days of Christmas and New Year's Resolution memes )

I had a really weird dream that was strongly influenced by Neal Stephenson's writing, and by my new iPod, and it was cool to be an amazing digital artist for a night and have everybody think my work was revolutionary and deserving of awards. Plus there was flying, so that just makes things super awesome.

Apparently I am expected to make dinner tonight. This wouldn't be so bad if I could make whatever I wanted, but I am expected to make porcupine meatballs and I've never made them before. Curses. What I really crave right now (and have been wanting for a while) is veggie samosas. When I get to Plattsburgh I'm going to have Indian food and it'll be glorious.

One reason I could never make it as a professional cook: the feel of raw ground beef makes me sick to my stomach.

Ugh, ugh, ugh, I hate making meatballs :(

I know, I know, it's only been four days, there's still a solid week to get your bids in... but come on, people, I'm getting all self-conscious about the fact that I'm offering podfic for the top five bidders and only one person has bothered to bid! Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I do a damn good podfic. You know you want your favorite story in this suave storytelling voice, don't lie.

The Noah's Ark quilt is newly finished, and it would make a great Christmas gift for a kid you know! :D

The polka dot quilt is also finished and doesn't have any bids... I know I can't be the only person who thinks that it's cute! It would also make a good Christmas gift. Hint, hint... >.>

The next ones to be finished are the rubber ducky one (which has a bid!) and the pink plaid/ribbon print, which does not. Even if all the quilts only go for $10, that's still making more for Sarina than the fleece cost us, so that's good... I just hope a couple will sell for more than that.

Did I set the minimums too high, or is everybody just waiting to the last minute so they won't get outbid? I clearly didn't have that strategy when I went bidding right after midnight all over the place. xD

This is part of the reason I suck at auctions. The waiting kills me! At least I have something to keep me busy... making more of the quilts. xD

What else COULD be keeping me busy is my Yuletide fic... but I have asked my recipient for more information on what she'd like, as I've never written this fandom before, and she has... basically ignored my request for the past two weeks. So whatever, if she doesn't want to throw me a bone then she'll just have to put up with whatever I come up with on my own. FRUSTRATING.

So... I'm going to go watch Supernatural and knot some fleece instead of worrying about any of that any more.

never thought I'd see the day

So I went downstairs, fired up season 3 of Supernatural, and settled in to make a quilt. Then my mom came home and we counted kettles... and she was watching it with me and actually seemed pretty into it and was asking questions and everything.

:O

I thought I was going to get the "OMG IT'S SATAN" line and have to turn it off, but we watched from A Very Supernatural Christmas to Jus in Bello before Dad woke up and came to claim the good tv.

I have to say, I don't see why everyone hates on Ruby so bad. I hate Bela way way WAY more.

I got that quilt done though! And I'm thinking about taking the DVDs down to the basement and finishing off the season so I can get started on s4. After I do vital things like, uh, take care of my Facebook farm. My life, it's so awesome.

...damn, I'm going to need to make space for a couple Supernatural icons, aren't I? Anyone got recs where I can find good ones? I like very simple icons-- not big on textures, color shifts, fancy-shmancy borders... do like animated ones though.

it's like a public service announcement

If you live in the United States, you do not have to talk to a police officer if they want to ask you anything. This law school teacher tells you exactly why you should not, no matter what, even if you're innocent.

I don't know how it works in other countries, but for my fellow Americans: hug the Bill of Rights. Give it tender kisses. It loves you. You should love it back.

incidentally, my icon is making me lol for real right now. I am so juvenile.
