Awesomeness!

Speaking of cover songs, Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies did an all-covers show this past summer with a group called The Art of Time Ensemble. He covered songs by Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright, Radiohead, The Mountain Goats, The Divine Comedy, The Weakerthans, Leonard Cohen, and Jane Siberry. I think he does "Paranoid Android" much better than Thom Yorke ever could. But then again, I am biased toward BNL. I think the Ladies could pwn (yes, I said "pwn") Radiohead's over-pretentious asses any day of the week.
But I digress. Steve's cover songs show is streaming at this site:

One of these days I'll upload it to rapidshare.

oh my god. Please do upload it, streams are annoying >> If you upload the whole thing, I'll split it into individual songs and repost it in my journal for the general edification of all!

I have it as separate tracks on a CD. My laptop is still dead, so I'll bring my CD with me to the comp lab tomorrow and upload it. Unfortunately I don't have time to do it tonight. But think of the stream as a teaser!

And if you haven't checked out the stream already, you can stream each track individually.

I can be patient for a crazy-good promise like that. :D I may just stream it tonight while I read, but I have places to go now, sadly.

It's awesome...definitely worth the wait! After hearing it, you'll be wondering why BNL still aren't being taken seriously by critics.

(Christian Hoard of Rolling Stone, who gave 2 BNL albums in a row unwarranted bad reviews, and the guy at Pitchfork who called the song 'Brian Wilson' "shitty" will rue the day they meet me!)

No problem!! I can never get tired of listening to Steve's voice. Hell, I'd go gay for him....maybe. I still think him and Feist should do a song together.

Oh my god, he's covering the Weakerthans. I almost flipped out. So unbearably awesome! I've loved his voice since middle school, but this is a glorious showcase.

I'd go gay for Feist. Maybe this is the way to make that collaboration happen. >>

Maybe! I hope this is the beginning of BNL getting taken seriously as artists and going down in the history books as one of the greatest bands to ever come out of Canada.
