There's a point in almost all of Diane Duane's books where everything is brought into such honesty and clarity that you can't help but get overwhelmed, or I can't, at least. The way she can bring to light the best and most brilliant aspects of any character...
My head aches now, from the crying and a little bit from the physics, lol. But they're good tears. Like my brain has just been hugged.
I very strongly suggest finding this book, to all TOS fans on my flist, and if you aren't then go find So You Want To Be A Wizard and I dare you not to get emotional at the end.
My favorite author playing with some of my longtime favorite characters = absolute wonder and joy.

I was tearing up well before that... the bit about them seeing each other so clearly, McCoy blazing with his compassion and Spock vivid with his thirst for knowledge, and then McCoy asks "Isn't that armor heavy?" and Kirk's like "Wut?" Fuck, that part always makes me choke up.
