femmealunettes: (don't give away your heart : Mohinder)
Apparently, my aunt was so distraught that I called her by name without using "Aunt" in front that she called my mother in tears.

I guess she didn't notice that I haven't used "aunt" in any of the emails I've sent her recently, OR when I saw her face to face in May? I don't call any of them "Aunt" or "Auntie". I'm almost 24, for god's sake, I'm not a gradeschooler.

AAAANYway. I'm doing something fantastically ridiculous and you can all laugh at me as soon as I'm done. You'll see.

Downside to this haircut: it's too short to tie up in the back and my neck is all sweaty and itchy! D:

Back to my ridiculousness...

Dude, I haven't referred to my uncle or either of my aunts by anything BUT their given names... ever. It always boggles me that there are people who consider the "Aunt" in "Aunt Jane" compulsory.

I sometimes still refer to my Aunt as Aunt Gail but I'm sure that if I suddenly started calling my aunt Gail without the aunt part, she wouldn't really care. I don't understaaaaand.

Is *that* what she's upset about? Methinks she doesn't want to tell your mom that you dared speak to her like she was a fellow adult instead of a Person In Authority.

I am supiciousus.

huh... that's...interesting. There are some relatives I address as Aunt and Uncle before their name and others that I don't. It's not that I don't favor them over the other, it's pretty much whatever feels comfortable/easy.

Also when do you really notice when you don't address most adults by their last names but by their first names instead? I call all my neighbors by their first names, college instructors to. *Shrug*

I can't wait to see this fantastically ridiculous thing, I happen to be doing one to now that I'm nearly done with finals. 8D

I haven't seen any of my aunts or uncles in a long time, so I haven't had to face that question, but honestly, I hardly think of them at all, so I don't know if I would call them 'Aunt' or 'Uncle'. However, I remember when one of my cousins called my mother by her name, she got mad and told them they were to call her 'Aunt' and so I guess she would try to get me to call my relatives 'Aunt'.

I really don't understand your Aunt's (over)reaction. =_=

I still refer to my Aunt on my father's side as 'Auntie Jen' but I call my Mother's sister by her first name, Sallie. Mind you, Auntie Jen still treats me like a 'youngster' however I can have intelligent conversations with Sallie. XD ...Might be time for me to just call my Auntie, Jennifer. It is her given name after all...

'Fantastically ridiculous', you say? Can't wait! 8 D
