So I'm doing research on Byronic heroes, right? And I'm looking for books that could help me.

I find The Byronic Hero in Film, Fiction, and Television by Atara Stein.

I'm pretty sure she used to write a whole bunch of Picard/Q fic that I read back in the day!

Fandom, meet scholarship. See, you can coexist!

Anyway. I've only found one source I can use and I'm hoping I won't get penalized too harshly for not having two sources... I could try to bullshit one from an abstract, but I won't be able to get my hands on the book for at least a week. Actually, almost two weeks, since Spring Break starts on Thursday. See kids, this is why procrastination is never worth it. If I had done it in a timely fashion, I wouldn't be fucked now! And Google Books proves it's awesome by giving me that very book. SWEET.

I've pretty much resigned myself to not being able to go to Plattsburgh this time. Between the new laptop, the expense of registering for Wells, and a fine I forgot I had to deal with in Plattsburgh that I just paid in full, I can't afford it, not at $142 round trip plus whatever I'll be spending while I'm there... Plus all my friends are going to be in class the whole time. Stupid non-lining-up breaks.

So it looks like this break will consist mostly of watching TV. Maybe I'll actually make it through seasons 3 and 4 of Psych. Maybe I'll do something really ambitious like take a walk every day or go through an actual yoga DVD instead of just doing along with the Wii Fit. What I won't be doing: seeing the friends I desperately want to talk to, hanging out with a four year old, getting high at all, taking a train, walking along the Saranac River, climbing Mount Jo, watching George or Kevin play video games, visiting my friends' cats.

...sigh.

Oh, I'm officially a member in good standing of Phi Theta Kappa now. \o/ Yay for me.

I guess I should stop fucking around on LJ and go find this book so I can look through it before I try to write a paper, huh?

That's her LJ - she wrote Xena and Picard/Q fanfic, yeah. She died of MS in 2008. :( I wanna read her book now, though.

Oh, that's really sad! Thank you for finding that out for me. I have fond memories of her fanfic, and I'm looking forward to getting into her book.
