Least of all as I meant to start another 30 day meme yesterday. Seriously, nobody said they're sick of them, so I'm keeping on with them. You had your chance to complain.

14. How do you map out locations, if needed? Do you have any to show us?

I don't. I remain absolutely vague about most spatial aspects of my fiction. Occasionally I will sketch out a floor plan if I need to keep track of how someone's house looks, and I'll look up actual restaurants in an area if someone's going on a date, but my sense of space and direction is appallingly bad and I'm pretty sure it's obvious if anyone tries to follow my characters' motion around a room or a city.

I did try to recreate Dewey's apartment in Sims 3, just to see if I could do it, and... I couldn't, it turned out entirely wrong and I didn't have the heart to try it again.

15. Midway question! Tell us about a writer you admire, whether professional or not!

Let me tell you about [livejournal.com profile] moorishflower! My darling Heather is in the middle of writing an epic Supernatural story, The Trickster Saga, involving Gabriel helping Sam and Dean and Castiel find the items they need to take care of Lucifer for good, and also Gabriel courting Sam and Dean and Castiel slowly admitting they have feelings for each other. It is hilarious and brilliantly done, and there is bonus Crowley, who is always a good time, and basically if you read SPN fic at all, you need to check out this story. Also recently she finished a really gorgeous AU, Where The Ladder Starts, in which Sam is a bookstore owner and Becky is his friend who's writing a novel that begins to bizarrely parallel his own life when he finds an amnesiac man as he's leaving work one day. It's funny and tender and really, really hot, and even though it's an AU everyone is so absolutely spot-on with the characterization it's a joy to read. She also writes a lot of Dean/Castiel and Sam/Gabriel, and occasionally rarer pairings like Gabriel/Crowley and Dean/Gabriel. Seriously, if you enjoy SPN fic and you aren't following [livejournal.com profile] moorishflower, you are missing out on a lot of quality work.

writing to people instead of just writing

And, the new 30 day meme: Here's the challenge, each day for the next month, write a blog in letter form to the following people:

Day 1 — Your Best Friend

Dear Heather:

I just talked you up in front of my entire friendslist. I hope that's okay by you. I'm sorry I haven't been commenting on your fics lately, I have been failboats at commenting on every fic I read, but I hope you know I do love everything you've been writing lately. The amount of epic writing you've been doing is amazing. ♥

I don't know how feasable this is, but it would be cool if we could arrange to see each other again before school starts up this fall. At the very least, I need to start bothering you on AIM more often now.

Thank you for always being there for me when I need support. I don't know what I'd do without you, darling. Probably cry a lot more than I do now.

Day 2 — Your Crush

Dear Robert Downey Jr.:

Please just keep on doing exactly like you've been doing lately. You are fantastic and you make me happier than pretty much any other actor making movies these days. Don't change a thing, just keep being your amazing self, and I will keep fangirling you pathetically. Deal? Awesome.

and the rest of the list )

and I'm still kind of residually tired

I had a dream that I was in an arcade and there was a karaoke game, and there was a Barenaked Ladies song I really wanted to sing, but when I opened my wallet instead of change I just found dozens of colorful tiny six-sided dice.

I have no clue what that signifies. Somebody interpret my dream for me. Unless it just means I'm broke, because I know that already.

In other news, Xanax is far more effective at keeping me asleep than Ambien. With Ambien I wake up by 9 am, every time. With the Xanax I only just woke up now. I was not taking it to replace the sleeping pill, but I did not take the sleeping pill because I took it.

I entirely forgot that Matt is coming over around 4pm today to watch Dead Like Me. I guess I'll be finishing that essay tomorrow. I'm not going to deprive myself of Holmes group-watch because I forgot that I made plans, either. That would only upset me.

I emailed my roommate last night... now I'm going to be anxious until she emails me back. I just have to remember two things: a) not everybody checks their email constantly throughout the day like I do, and b) even though I tried to avoid using colloquialisms, I honestly don't know how good her English is yet, so she may take time to decipher what I said. That probably won't stop me from being anxious though. Once the neuroses train gets going, it's pretty hard to derail that sucker.

Oh, here's a song I meant to post yesterday but it slipped my mind:

The Decemberists - July, July!
July, July, July
It never seemed so strange

This is the story of the road that goes to my house
And what ghosts there do remain
And all the troughs that run the length and breadth of my house
And the chickens how they rattle chicken chains

And we'll remember this when we are old and ancient
Though the specifics might be vague
And I'll say your camisole was a sprightly light magenta
When in fact it was a nappy bluish grey

Okay, now that I have a bunch of new people on my flist, it's time to ask this question again. I have a filter for talking about personal adult issues (ie, details on the rare occasions I get laid) and a filter for talking about female issues (ie, how much I want to dig my uterus out of my abdomen with a rusty spoon). Neither of these filters gets a whole lot of use, but you can opt in to being on one or both of them, if you like.

[Poll #1587043]

Note: If you've seen a variation of this poll before, you don't have to vote. I won't take you off the filter once you're on it, unless you tell me you want off of it.
