unhappy-making

femmealunettes: (bitch please. : Lafayette)
I'm noticing a disturbing trend in Charlaine Harris's books... namely, the dead queer trend. To the best of my recollection (and I've read all of these novels in the past five months, I believe) every single gay or lesbian character in her books has ended up either dead or grievously injured and only got better because they were vampires.

I really enjoy these books, but this bothers me quite a lot. And I'm glad that True Blood didn't go with the books and kill off Lafayette, because he's awesome and I'm going to be super pissed if they gank him this season.

Anyway, I AM looking forward to the show starting up again. I want to see how they handle Alcide, and I'm wondering which of the books they're going to incorporate, and I really want to see how they resolve the magical disappearing Bill act.

I literally just had this topic shoved into my face and I couldn't not say something about it.

It took me until book 9 to twig on to the syndrome in effect, and I really do enjoy the books aside from that... and the show is much better about it than the books.
