I honestly don't know if there's anybody besides [livejournal.com profile] etoile_dunord on my flist who is interested in doing podfics, but in case there is: [livejournal.com profile] podremix is a challenge in which the participants record podfics that have already been done once, because every reader brings a new perspective and new quirks to the same text. So if I've recorded any of your stories, keep an eye out in a couple of weeks, you may have someone contact you to ask if they can record a story I've already done for you. I'm excited about the possibilities opened up by this challenge. I don't know if it would be better to read it cold without listening to the first podfic version, or to listen to how the other person managed it. I don't want to accidentally copy someone's inflection or anything like that... I'll figure it out when I get to it.

My mom got 50 points on her card for buying $10 of yarn, so it looks like I'm going to be trying to reteach myself to knit for long enough to use it. I never really got the knack of knitting... I think I managed to make a square. I never actually made anything useful or pretty. Maybe I can manage something. A really short scarf maybe. xD I have two skeins, a blue and light grey one and a red and dark grey one, plus a pair of straight needles and a pair of circular needles in case I decide to do a hat or something.

I slept until 2. I just took my sleeping pill, so... hopefully tomorrow I can achieve more than eight hours of consciousness. We'll see. I did have some pretty awesome dreams though, I always sleep later if I'm enjoying my dreams.

This morning my mother bought a hammock and we set it up in our front yard before dinner. I spent a couple of hours on it reading. I like it very much, and now I have a good reason to go outside. Plus I'm almost finished with Turn Coat, another hour or two and I'll be done with it.

I can't believe that tomorrow is August. July went by so fast...

I really want to teach myself how to knit. I knew how to when I was alot younger and I see all the pretty yarn in Walmart and just want to make something!

I just looked through the book and I went cross-eyed once they got past knitting and purling. I am too easily distracted for complex crafts. Leave me to things like making jewelry and I'm fine, but anything asking me to count stitches... not so much.

I taught myself using knittinghelp.com (http://www.knittinghelp.com). There are videos for everything, without having to wade through like on YouTube.

Then, join Ravelry.com (http://www.ravelry.com) to share your projects, see others, and access a fantastic pattern search database.

Yay hammock! When I was younger I loved the idea of a hammock, but, sadly, i have yet to get the chance to lie in one. Someday! *shakes fist at sky*

Also, you should stop me from writing fic for Sherlock, because I have absolutely no idea how Sherlock Holmes works, as a person. He's this marvelous crazy being and I have no idea how to write him but fffffffff. D:

I'm sorry, did you just ask me to stop you from indulging one of my biggest obsessions? I can't do that, Dave. I could suggest you wait until tomorrow and watch the second episode before starting, but you know how I feel about your writing, why would I ever convince you to NOT turn your talents onto something I love?

Obviously the only possible response is a picture of Benedict Cumberbatch with dramatic lighting.

Oh, to be that scarf.

Is it weird that I'm more interested in what the design on his shirt is?

I think it's probably more weird that I want to be his scarf, honestly. I'd also be happy being John's jumper. Basically anything knitted either one of them wears.

How difficult is the calorimetry you made for me? Because I definitely have enough yarn to make one of those, and they're super cute.

The one I made for you is crochet, but the original pattern is for knit. I haven't made it (or read the pattern). The only tricky thing might be short rows. Then again, maybe not? What kind of yarn do you have?

Is "worsted" the word I want to pull off this label? or maybe "medium"? It's Red Heart Collage brand.

When I put that yarn into Ravelry and click Pattern Suggestions, Calorimetry is the first one, haha. Here's a link to the pattern (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTcalorimetry.html).

What size needles do you have?

Haha, excellent! And my needles are size 8, too, so I don't have to go get a different pair. Score.

Now I just have to figure out how to do all the stuff it tells me to do and I'll be golden. xD
