Day 06 - Write 30 interesting facts about yourself

There aren't thirty interesting things about me. But I'll give it a shot.


1. I am 5'3", but I tell everyone I'm 5'4" because I hate being the same height as my mother. It says 5'4" on my driver's license.

2. As of the last time I weighed myself (two days ago), I weigh 159.8 pounds. I need to lose 4.8 pounds by October if I plan on making that goal for 101/1001.

3. I have dyed my hair fairly often since I was 13 years old. Most frequently I dye it red. I have also dyed it black, dark brown, blue, and very briefly (less than an hour) blonde. Right now it's dark reddish brown, which is fairly close to my original color except I really don't have much red in it naturally.

4. I was a practicing Christian for nine years, flirted with Wicca for about a year, and have been agnostic for the past decade.

5. The first time I smoked weed was with a group of boys in Elliott Mousseau's minivan outside of the bowling alley. I was seventeen. When I got home I immediately got in the shower, and my mother came into the bathroom and talked with me almost the whole time I was in there, and I was terrified she'd smell it on my clothes.

6. My hair used to be almost down to my butt. I used to wear it in two braids. It hasn't been longer than shoulder length since my freshman year of college, when I cut it ridiculously short after a bad breakup.

7. I own about 200 books and maybe 230 DVDs, including TV series. This makes it a pain in the ass to move house, but one day I'll have a home with a library room, and it will be epic.

8. The great majority of those books are either YA fiction or fantasy. Or YA fantasy. Actually, no, it's just mostly YA fantasy, adult fantasy comes second place, science-fiction rounds it out. I barely own any nonfiction, but I do have a fair collection of poetry.

9. I have something like 60,000 songs between my laptop and my external drive, I think. It's some fucking ridiculous number, at any rate. I only have 3600 on the laptop, though.

10. If I don't own thirty hats, I own very close to thirty hats, including four fedoras, a Hello Kitty hat, and one hat I made myself.

11. I name my technology. My first computer was Holly (after Red Dwarf). My desktop is Arthur and my first laptop was Percy, both after the Weasleys. The netbook I briefly owned was Spock. My current laptop is Chuck, as in Bartowski. My old phone was the TARDIS, my new phone is Moriarty. My old iPod was the Doctor (and had "fantastic!" inscribed on the back), my current iPod is Dr. McCoy. My terabyte drive is Gabriel (as in Grey), my thumb drive is Owen (as in Harper), and my midsized hard drive that I have a feeling I'm never going to see again was Toshiko (as in Sato).

12. I have four stuffed animals with me at college: a dolphin named Cindy, a frog named Mr. Squishy, a mouse named Squee, and a pig named Olivia.

13. I never seem to be able to keep a best friend much longer than five years.

14. I prefer cinnamon-flavored toothpaste.

15. I am an expert procrastinator; I put things off until the day before they're due, but I consistently receive As and Bs on last-minute work, so I have no real reason to start doing things sooner. I'm trying to break this bad habit, but... well, I should be doing a midterm right now, but I'm doing this instead.

16. I have four tattoos: a semicolon behind my right ear, the VFD eye on my left ankle, a rat on my left collarbone and a lizard on my right collarbone. I have plans for at least two more: an iris on my right ankle and (...) behind my left ear. I would also like to get a Sappho quote, but I don't know where I would want it.

17. People like to tell me their problems. I'm not sure how much of that is because I am a good listener and how much of it is just that I am a nice person, but it was one of the deciding factors in choosing psychology as my major.

18. Death Cab for Cutie has been my favorite band for seven years now. The first song of theirs I heard was "Title and Registration."

19. The first band I saw in concert was Bright Eyes. I was eighteen. I cried like a little girl at "Waste of Paint."

20. My favorite color is grey... probably about 40% of my wardrobe contains grey, including all of my nice pants, my two favorite hoodies, my four favorite shirts, and my favorite pair of panties. The only item of clothing I don't own in grey is a bra.

21. My favorite candy is Skittles, but I also like Starburst, Junior Mints, Kit-kats, and Snickers. My favorite kind of chocolate is Lindt truffles.

22. My favorite fruit is pomegranate, but I also like strawberries, grapes, raspberries, cherries, blueberries, pineapple, some kinds of apples, and peaches. One of my favorite things in the world is a good fruit salad.

23. If I got to pick my last meal, I would have vegetable samosas, peshawari naan, and chicken tikka masala over basmati rice.

24. My favorite board game is Scrabble. Apples to Apples is my favorite card-based game.

25. I REALLY LIKE DRAGONS. I especially like dragons who can talk.

26. I am the oldest of four children, and I absolutely believe that I am a more compassionate, understanding, adaptable, and healthy person because of it. I love my siblings dearly and worry about them constantly.

27. I keep a blog and a vlog, and I have done podcasting. I write, make podfics, and make fanmixes. I used to make icons, but now I only make them for personal use. I like to participate in fandom in different ways.

28. My first fandom was the Redwall books. I was nine when I got into the fandom aspect of it. My first TV fandom was the Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. My most recent new fandom is Metalocalypse. I like cartoons, okay?

29. My favorite drink is a Mob Witness: one part amaretto, two parts Dr. Pepper, add maraschino cherry juice to taste, drop in cherries. I really love cherries.

30. Over the course of my life I have had probably around 60 or 70 roleplaying characters. My most recent one is Jeremiah Geller, a head shop owner in Burlington. The one I wrote most about was Dewey Ceinion, a cop in Las Vegas. The one I love the most is Trent Anderson-Phillips, a news anchor from a fictional town in California.


Wow, it only took me... like an hour and a half to come up with 30 things. Because I am boring. Now I'm going to go take a shower.
