Okay, this'll be the more typical 'this is what I'm thankful for' post. So, woo.

First, and most, and pretty much everything, I'm so freaking thankful for my friends I can't even say how much. The people that put up with my mood swings, my insecurity, my bitchiness, my complete inability to follow anything for longer than ten minutes, they're the best and I love them dearly. I just wish I was a better friend; I'm doing my best, and I'm glad they put up with me when I fail.


I'm thankful for my family. Even though they piss me off sometimes, I know they care, and they're actually a lot more tolerable now-- I get along with my parents almost all the time, as long as I don't try to talk politics, and my brother is just incredible fun to be around whether he's stoned or sober. My sisters are totally tolerable when they're not together. Julia's actually a pretty cool person when she's not trying to be all badass and belligerent.

I'm thankful that I have a house to live in, and it's in good condition, and we have a lot of luxuries. I'm thankful that everything works, and I don't have to worry about things breaking down or being turned off. Just having that makes me luckier than a lot of people in this town.

I'm thankful that I'm in good health. I don't need to worry about not having insurance right now, because I'm okay, and god willing I'll stay okay.

On that note, I'm thankful for the things I can get away with doing to ruin my health. I'm grateful for being able to go smoke weed with my brother and his friends, because if illegal self-medication is all I can get, it's doing an okay job. I'm thankful that I can drink without wanting to be drunk all the time, and mostly without making horrible decisions.

I'm thankful for the chances I get to fix my fuckups. I'm thankful that no matter how bad things seem, they always get better.

I'm thankful for my pets, who are usually pretty tuned to how I feel and try to cheer me up when I'm down. I'm thankful for all the things I'm able to do, all the people I've been able to meet, all the friends I've made and cool things I've done.

It's been a bad year. But it's also been a pretty good year. And I'm thankful that the good at least made the bad tolerable.
