maybe I'm oversensitive to the echo?

Okay, seriously, I don't know how to fix my problems with my microphone, but until I get it worked out, I have too much professional pride to present any recording that sounds like this as a finished product. I can't turn off the built-in microphone without disabling the microphone jack, or at least I can't figure out how to do it.

I may have to resort to recording on Arthur again. That's a depressing proposition, I'm so used to how speedy Chuck is now, going back to the desktop is going to be a hassle.

:( That's an hour and a half I've wasted reading this story over and over without being able to use it. At least now I've gotten to the point where I can read it with only one or two missteps in the entire thing.

a very productive day

Today, I brought the art of the audiofic into White Collar fandom. :D Three excellent stories by three of my favorite authors in the fandom, all read out loud, maybe a little overly sibilant (seriously, can anyone fix this problem for me? my Ss are ridiculous and I can't pad the mic enough to cut them down) but done with love!

First, [livejournal.com profile] asimaiyat's wonderful OT3 story Love Walked In.

Then, [livejournal.com profile] hoosierbitch's incredible glimpse into Neal's backstory framed in a lot of ouchies for him, Nightmares.

And finally, my absolute favorite Mozzie fic ever, by [livejournal.com profile] gyzym, Into the Fire.

And now, my fandom duties well-acquitted for the day, I am going to have an ice cream sandwich and a nice long bath, and maybe finish this book... no, probably not, I've got over 200 pages left. Well, make a significant dent in this book, anyway.

(you know what would be awesome? coming back to comments about the audiofic. ...hey, a girl can dream.)

The FYE in my mall is closed and I have no idea when that happened. I'm bummed out about it because I probably missed awesome closing sales. Oh well. My hunt for season 2 of Chuck under $30 continues.

I FINALLY did those last two audiofics I owed [livejournal.com profile] brighteyed_jill from [livejournal.com profile] hope_in_sight. One's a gen-ish Petrelli-centric Heroes fic and the other one is a smutty K/S Star Trek story. If either of those things interest you, go give them a listen and let me know if I'm getting worse at this audiofic thing because I think I'm losing my sense of pacing but I'm my own worst critic.

I'm considering pimping my audiofic skillz (such as they are) in White Collar fandom because, well, more audiofic is always a good thing, and there are some authors in that fandom I would bend over backwards for and "please let me read your story out loud" is about as close to outright worship as I can come. xD I don't know if there would be any interest in that... what do you say, WC friends? Audiofic: cool or lame?

Today was lovely. Tomorrow is supposed to be lovely too. All this nice weather is spoiling me. I'm going to be so heartbroken when it snows next week. All I want to do is plant these morning glory seeds that [livejournal.com profile] moorishflower gave me, but I have to wait... stupid late frosts, you're crimping my already weak gardening style.

I'm going to take a shower and go to bed at a reasonable time, I think.

[livejournal.com profile] perdiccas is letting me repost her birthday present for the general public! I turned her most excellent story "They Call Them Cold Blooded Killers" into an audiofic, it's 13:26 minutes and 10.8 MB, and you should go read the story even if you don't download the audiofic, because it's brilliant gen about Sylar and Luke wreaking havoc.

I am in a super awesome mood right now, partly because she told me I have a great voice and partly because I finally got the ice cream I've been dreaming of (peanut butter ice cream with KitKats crushed in, NOM) and partly because, well, why the hell not? :D :D :D So while I'm in this excellent mood, I extend this offer to all of you:

Do you have a story you'd like to be turned into audiofic? My requirements right now are that it's fewer than 3000 words, rated R or below (I can't say dirty words without giggling, okay, I'm five years old), that you're the author or you have specific permission from the author for me to do it (no, I'm not going to ask for you, you get it taken care of :P ) and that you don't (/the author doesn't) mind me adding it to the Multifandom Audiofic Archive when it's done. Other than that, toss your suggestions at me, darlings!
